  • Publication number: 20020172990
Abstract: The present invention is based on the discovery that the Disabled 1 protein (Dab1) is a substrate for Cdk5 activity, and is selectively phosphorylated by Cdk5. An assay to determine Cdk5 activity by detection of Dab1 phosphorylation on serine amino acids that are selectively phosphorylated by Cdk5 is provided. The invention further provides an antibody and screening kit to determine Cdk5 activity, a method for detecting a neurological disorder by determining Cdk5 activity, a method of screening for compounds that increase or decrease Cdk5 activity and a method for treating a neurological disorder with such a compound.

  • Patent number: 6405999
Abstract: A stop and method for anchoring a floor covering stretching system and in particular, a power stretcher system. The stop is invertible and has a sufficient beam structure to act as an anchor for a power stretcher for a floor covering whether used as a tail stop against a vertical surface, with the gripper protrusions facing upward and out of contact with the floor covering, or by inverting the stop such that the gripper protrusions are in contact with the floor covering is operable as an anchor at intermediate points, in the room where a vertical surface is unable to be used as a tail stop anchor support.

  • Patent number: 5645844
Abstract: The present invention features a method and composition for attracting a target insect to a selected location. The invention is based on the discovery that negatively charged chitosan polymers, e.g., NOCC, have advantageous properties for use in a semiochemical delivery system for releasing a volatile semiochemical at a substantially sustained rate over an extended period of time to attract a target insect to a selected location. The present invention may be used for monitoring a target insect by capturing the insect. Alternatively, the present invention may be used for the management of a target insect by disrupting mating patterns of such insects.
