  • Publication number: 20240082749
Abstract: An interactive toy comprising a function device for performing user-perceptible, controllable functions. The interactive toy also includes a rechargeable power source and a charging circuit for contactless receipt of electrical energy and for charging the rechargeable power source when the interactive toy is positioned in a charging zone of a contactless charging device. The interactive toy is adapted to determine a charging rate at respective positions relative to the charging device and to generate a user-perceptible output indicative of the determined charging rate.

  • Patent number: 10397692
Abstract: The speaker system disclosed includes multiple closely spaced drivers in a column matrix format. Using signal processing and pairing of the drivers, the speaker system optimally combines acoustic output and maintains the benefits of a single column vertical array while achieving improved low frequency sound production by coupling speakers through spatial and frequency alignment. The full frequency range of an audio signal is provided to a first set of drivers while a low frequency band of the audio signal is provided to a second set of drivers. The horizontal centers of the two adjacent sets of drivers are such that the signal wavelength provided to the second set of drivers is at least twice the separation distance between transducer acoustic centers. By providing a continuous range of signal to at least one driver set, and proper frequency management of the second set, crossover artifacts are substantially minimized while the benefits of coupled drivers are optimized.

  • Patent number: 5631562
Abstract: An electromagnetic well logging tool for imaging the electrical characteristics of a borehole. A tool inserted into the borehole includes the appropriate mechanical apparatus to align a plurality of transmission lines adjacent to the borehole wall without requiring direct electrical contact. Electrical circuitry applies a step or impulse voltage on one end and samples the reflections at the same end of each transmission line, where the reflections indicate the magnitude of any changes of dielectric constant of the material of the borehole wall. The transmission lines are preferably angled relative to the center line of the borehole for a complete mapping of the circumference. The tool is moved at a desired speed through the portion of the borehole where measurement is desired. The sampling rate of the reflections depends on the desired speed of the tool and the desired resolution of the measurements.

  • Patent number: 5557680
Abstract: A loudspeaker system comprises two spaced-apart sound cabinets with the first cabinet housing a speaker driver directed toward a listener and couplable to a left channel signal to create a left channel sound image and a second speaker mounted in a second of the cabinets and couplable to a right channel to create a right channel sound image in a listening area. Third and fourth speaker drivers are positioned, one in each of the two sound cabinets, proximate to one of the first and second speaker drivers. The third and fourth drivers have axes which are angled with respect to the axes of the first and second drivers and are couplable to a signal having frequency components of center channels.

  • Patent number: 4678997
Abstract: Method and apparatus for use in introducing electromagnetic energy into subsurface earth formations and acquiring measurements relating to propagation of such energy therethrough. A logging tool body includes a plurality of transmitter and receiver antenna assemblies positionable against the borehole wall. Construction of each antenna assembly includes a cavity-backed slot resonated by lumped elements, the slots being oriented generally with their elongate dimension transverse to the tool body. The transmitters and receivers are interconnected, respectively, to a downhole source of electromagnetic energy operating nominally at 200 MHz and to appropriate receiver circuitry. Formation dielectric constants are determined from phase differences and relative amplitude ratios of energy from the formation incident on the receiver antennas.

  • Patent number: 4651100
Abstract: Antenna apparatus for use in introducing electromagnetic energy into subsurface earth formations and acquiring measurements relating to propagation of such energy therethrough. Antenna construction includes a resonant cavity-backed slot, the cavity being filled with a fluid. The slot receives an insulator plug serving as a floating piston whereby pressure differentials between the cavity and the surrounding borehole are accommodated. A metallic strap within the cavity grounded at one end to the tool body interconnects at the other end to a matching and tuning feed network. A lumped element resonant circuit behind the slot is thereby formed for either radiating or receiving transmitted or received electromagnetic energy, respectively.
