  • Patent number: 5370357
Abstract: A needle valve including a deformable seal positioned between the distal end of the needle and a hard, mechanical seat between the needle and the valve housing. The deformable seal is able to seal around the movable needle but is protected from serious deformation by the hard mechanical seat that is located so as to prevent the needle from entering the deformable seat beyond a predetermined amount. Thus the deformable seal does not extrude due to the entrance of the needle and wear is reduced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 3, 1993
Date of Patent: December 6, 1994
    Assignee: Ohmeda Inc.
    Inventor: Thomas C. Jones
  • Patent number: 5351557
Abstract: A rotary type of flowmeter having an orifice directing the flow toward a moveable needle. The needle moves within a channel that has a varying cross-sectional area in a plane transverse to the needle movement such that the effect of the velocity of the fluid impinging on the needle to cause its movement is controlled.

  • Patent number: 5267585
Abstract: A flow control valve is disclosed wherein a deformable elastomeric element is positioned at least partially within the flow path of a fluid passing between an inlet and an outlet. By deforming the elastomeric element, the cross-section of the flow path of the fluid is changed, thereby controlling the flow of fluid through the flow control valve. The elastomeric element may be of various standard configurations and is easy and inexpensive to replace in the event of excessive wear.

  • Patent number: 5253536
Abstract: A rotary type flowmeter having a variable orifice through which the flow to be measured is directed toward a rotatable needle. A preload is also applied and which may be varied as desired. By the use of the variable orifice and with the preload, the same flowmeter may be used for differing ranges of flow by minor adjustment and various indicating scales may be taylored to the particular flow being monitored.

  • Patent number: 4636265
Abstract: A method of improving the anticorrosion properties of an autodeposited resin coating by including in the post-bath rinse (a) a metal dichromate, (b) a metal hypophosphite, or (c) a combination of either of the foregoing with a metal hydrogenphosphate, followed by curing.

  • Patent number: 4221124
Abstract: A bladder leak and rupture detector employs a low level flow sensor for detecting both bladder leaks and ruptures. False failure signals are avoided by a dual mode logic circuit which monitors for bladder leaks or low level failures only during a preselected portion of the curing cycle and at other times requires sustained flow through the sensor for a predetermined time to indicate bladder ruptures or high level failures. In either case, a warning signal is generated and the cycle may be interrupted to prevent loadng of a next tire into the curing press. Leakage flow passages may be provided for both upper and lower portions of the tire mold cavity to ensure detection of leaks, and vent passages with shut-off valves are provided to facilitate low level leak detection.

  • Patent number: 4146286
Abstract: An electrical connector for making or breaking an electrical connection with, for example, another such relatively movable electrical connector, includes an electrically conductive contact supported by a resilient deformable support so that a force applied to the electrical contact causes deflection of the support and applies a biasing force to the conductive contact to resist movement in response to the applied force. Thus, the two contacts are pressed against each other to complete the electrical connection and the electrical connector provides a complete electrical circuit without the need for interlocking.

  • Patent number: 4114917
Abstract: In a tank trailer having a longitudinally extending frame member, a rear wheel assembly extending transverse to the longitudinal member and a front wheel assembly, rotatable and sealed connections and structures are provided between the longitudinal member and the front wheel assembly whereby tight turns are reliably made on rough land, such as furrowed fields.
