  • Patent number: 5805117
Abstract: A tiled flat-panel modular display system includes an array of display modules which contain thin seal liquid crystal displays. Each one of a plurality of module alignment devices attach a respective display module to a large base plate. A frame is connected to the base plate and surrounds the base plate and display modules. A global cover glass assembly disposed above the display modules encloses and protects the display modules. Included in each of the display modules is a light source configuration of a light box and a light box cover which utilizes global light sources that provide efficient uniform backlighting of the corresponding display. The alignment devices permit alignment of the display modules with respect to each other and to a global black mask disposed in the global cover glass assembly to achieve a display system that is seamless in appearance.

  • Patent number: 4254361
Abstract: A display device adapted to display one or more characters side by side in a row and including an insulating support plate, on the top surface of which are formed a plurality of groups of conductive members, each group being adapted to be energized to display a character. The device includes various configurations of anode electrodes, shielding electrodes, and interconnections of common characters in each group to provide manufacturing economies.

  • Patent number: 4121129
Abstract: The disclosure is of a display panel which includes a gas-filled envelope which contains cathodes and anodes spaced apart from each other and formed into rows and columns of dotlike cells by an insulating cell sheet. The insulating sheet is of a glassy material and is coated with an opaque, slightly reflective, resistive material such as silicon. The coating provides good display contrast by hiding the cathode glow of the priming cathodes in the panel.

  • Patent number: 4114148
Abstract: A display panel includes one or more character display positions, each of which comprises a cathode, an anode, and an array of anodic display elements. The display elements comprise conductive phosphor segments which can be energized in different combinations to emit light and display a character. In operation of the panel, the cathode and anode are connected in an operating circuit, and then selected phosphor segments are energized by information signals to transfer electrons thereto and to display a character.

  • Patent number: 3973166
Abstract: The display panel comprises a gas-filled envelope containing a series of fine, closely-spaced cathode lines connected in groups so that they can be energized sequentially and individually. The panel also includes an anode film supported on the face plate and aligned with and in operative relation with the series of cathode lines. The anode and cathodes are closely spaced and the panel contains an ionizable gas at relatively high pressure.
