  • Patent number: 7037382
Abstract: A three-dimensional printer uses inkjet-type printheads to rapidly prototype, or print, a three-dimensional model. A powder feeder includes a conveyor system and a metering system to deliver powder to a build area in measured quantities. The powder feeder also includes a vacuum system for loading powder into a feed reservoir or chamber. The vacuum system can also be used to cleanup excess powder. Other powder control features include powder gutters and magnetic powder plows. During printing, a cleaning system operates to remove powder from the printheads. In the event of a printhead or jet failure, the failure can be detected and corrective measures taken automatically. After printing, the model can be depowdered and infiltrated in an enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20050115609
Abstract: Fire hydrants which feature additional structure for reducing the potential that those with ill intent can foul municipal water supplies by introducing toxins or other materials into fire hydrants. Various embodiments include valves which close off portions of the hydrant otherwise available for receipt of toxic or other materials when the fire hydrant nozzle cap is unscrewed and open. Such valves preferably open, manually or automatically, when water is flowing from the water supply through the nozzle, a condition which renders it difficult at best to introduce toxins through the hydrant into a water supply, but close off portions of the barrel when the nozzle is open and water is not flowing through the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4176815
Abstract: A spring hanger assembly for supporting a portion of a pipe line includes a hollow housing having mounted therein a movable upper piston plate and a stationary lower plate, with a coiled compression spring disposed between said plates and urging said upper piston plate in a vertical upward direction. Adjustable hanger means are carried by said upper piston plate and are adapted to be secured to the pipe being supported. The lower plate is affixed to the assembled hanger assembly by means of a plurality of fingers engaging bayonet slots in the lower end portion of the housing. The lower plate has a plurality of partial annular grooves into which a tool may be inserted to compress the spring and allow the fingers to be turned within the bayonet slot in the well-known fashion. Upon removal of the tools the fingers engage the blind slot of the bayonet slot in the well-known fashion.
