Patent number: 11969322Abstract: An absorbent article can have a topsheet layer, a liquid impermeable layer, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet layer and the liquid impermeable layer. The absorbent article can further include an exudate management layer in fluid communication with the topsheet layer. In various embodiments, the exudate management layer can be positioned on a body facing surface of the topsheet layer. In various embodiments, the exudate management layer can be positioned between the topsheet layer and the absorbent core. The exudate management layer has a first component which defines an opening for direct passage of body exudates into the absorbent core. The exudate management layer has a second component which at least partially overlaps the first component of the exudate management layer and further extends in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent article in a direction towards the posterior region of the absorbent article.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2022Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: KIMBERLY-CLARK WORLDWIDE, INC.Inventors: Suzanne Marie Schmoker, Heidi Bauerlein Hopkins, Andrew Thomas Hammond, Kyle Mark Barriger, Michael Donald Sperl, Russell J. Patent number: 11832783Abstract: The housing for a breast imaging system contains an x-ray source and is configured to rotate relative to the breast. The housing for an x-ray receptor has a breast support platform and extends from an arm assembly which rotates independently from the x-ray source housing. A compression arm assembly connected to the arm assembly moves between a first linear position proximate the x-ray receptor housing and a second linear position distal the x-ray receptor housing. A pair of extension arms are pivotably connected to a strut which removably secures a compression paddle to the compression arm assembly substrate. The extension arms move between a first pivoted position substantially aligned with the strut and a second pivoted position disposed at an angle to the strut.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2022Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Assignee: Hologic, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth F. Publication number: 20230172572Abstract: An x-ray breast imaging system includes a breast support platform including an x-ray receptor, and an x-ray tube head. The x-ray tube head includes an x-ray source configured to emit an x-ray beam in a direction towards the x-ray receptor, and a collimator. A filter assembly including a plurality of filter slots selectively positionable adjacent to the collimator, and a specimen imaging filter disposed within a slot of the plurality of filter slots. The specimen imaging filter includes at least one aperture defined therein. The specimen imaging filter also blocks a portion of the emitted x-ray beam so that the at least one aperture defines a path of the emitted x-ray beam towards the x-ray receptor.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2021Publication date: June 8, 2023Inventors: Filip Nikolas BUNDRA, Christine JANSSEN, Zhenxue JING, Tarpit PATEL, Thomas DEYOUNG

Patent number: 6878346Abstract: The serum transfer cup is nestable in two different size blood collection tubes such as a 13 mm diameter sample tube and a 16 mm diameter sample tube of the same axial length. The serum transfer cup includes a flange stepped down from a top edge of the cup by a distinctive axial distance that permits ultrasonic identification of the presence of the serum transfer cup regardless of which sample tube nests the serum transfer cup. The serum transfer cup has a higher elevation in the 13 mm sample tube than in the 16 mm sample tube, and the different flange heights can be detected using ultrasonic signals. Thus ultrasonic measurement of the flange position of the nested serum transfer cup identifies the presence of different serum transfer cups in the 13 mm sample tube and in the 16 mm sample tube, and also identifies the 13 mm and 16 mm sample tubes with the nested serum transfer cups.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2003Date of Patent: April 12, 2005Assignee: Bayer CorporationInventors: Thomas DeYoung, John Voulgaris, Loretta Vincent

Patent number: 6358472Abstract: The stat shuttle adapter and transport device includes a conveyor with a movable platform for securement of the stat shuttle adapter. The stat shuttle adapter is a universal holding device that includes a carrier housing having male and female surfaces that engage complementary shaped female or male surfaces of a rack that is held by the carrier housing. The conveyor has a forward load position wherein racks are loaded onto the carrier housing. The conveyor also has a rearward unload position wherein the loaded rack is locked onto the carrier housing to facilitate removal of the contents of the rack from the carrier housing without upsetting the rack. A latch device on the carrier housing is normally biased to a lock position but is maintained in an unlock position when the carrier housing is at the forward load position of the conveyor. A latch engagement device on the conveyor maintains the latch in the unlock position while the carrier housing is at the forward load position of the conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2000Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Bayer CorporationInventors: Thomas DeYoung, Adam Perlman

Patent number: 6065617Abstract: The sample rack for holding sample tubes includes a front shell and a rear shell co-joined together in clam shell arrangement. The rack includes tube receiving chambers, each of which has a tube engagement cradle that is arranged to engage a surface portion of a sample tube inserted in the tube receiving chamber. Portions of the tube engagement cradle are formed on each of the front and rear shells and the co-joining of the shells completes the structure of the tube engagement cradle. Each tube receiving chamber also includes a depending biasing spring leg that urges the sample tube toward the tube engagement cradle. The rack also includes spring mount portions for supporting biasing springs that incorporate the biasing spring legs. Segments of the spring mount portion are also formed on each of the front and rear shells and the co-joining of the shells completes the structure of the spring mount portion.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1998Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Bayer CorporationInventors: Beri Cohen, Thomas DeYoung
