  • Patent number: 4949923
Abstract: The rear support legs of a washing machine is automatically adjusted to compensate for unevenness in a support surface and place the machine in a stable position of operation by an assembly including a stabilizer bar provided with channel portions at its opposite ends disposed within bracket housings. The rear legs are slidably received through the bracket housings and channel portions for vertical movement, with each leg being provided with outwardly extending pins engaged within upwardly converging slots of a corresponding channel portion to floatingly secure the stabilizer bar to the bracket housings.

  • Patent number: 4109397
Abstract: A drying rack for a dryer of the type having a rotating drum. The rack is adapted to prevent the tumbling of articles received in the rack as the drum rotates. The rack comprises an open-work basket portion that receives the articles to be dried. The basket comprises a bottom wall, opposed side walls, a front wall and a rear wall. A cover is provided for closing the basket portion and cooperating closing means on the basket portion and the cover are provided for affixing the cover to the basket portion at a selected one of a plurality of different heights from the bottom wall. Accordingly, the cover pressure will maintain the articles in place and prevent relative motion therebetween regardless of the height of the pile of articles received in the basket. Additionally, mounting means is provided for releasably mounting the rack on the drum to prevent tumbling of the rack as the drum rotates.

  • Patent number: 3974573
Abstract: A gas clothes dryer comprising a cabinet having a rotatable cylinder therein for receiving the clothes to be dried. A gas burner head produces hot air which is conducted, through an appropriate duct, to the rear of the cylinder. An exhaust fan exhausts the air in the cylinder through the front of the cylinder thereby causing the hot air to flow from the rear to the front of the cylinder across the clothes to be dried. The duct comprises a wall in facing relationship to the rear of the cylinder and having openings therein through which the hot air passes to enter the cylinder. A portion of the duct extends forward and surrounds a portion of the cylinder and is spaced therefrom to define an air passage therebetween. Accordingly, the exhaust fan also causes ambient air to be drawn through the air passage and into the cylinder thereby to decrease air flow about the burner head. As a result, pilot light outage is minimized and, since the burner head operates at decreased air flow, flame burn-out is eliminated.
