  • Patent number: 7175189
Abstract: A mounting bracket is attachable to a vehicle frame for pivotally connecting a booster axle assembly comprising a pair of spaced arms, each arm having a first end, a second end, and an axle connected therebetween. The mounting bracket includes a U-shaped portion having a base and a pair of spaced legs connected to the base and extending in a first direction generally normal to the base. The pair of spaced legs and base define a space for receiving the first end of one of the arms of the booster axle assembly. Each leg defines first and second spaced appendages that define a slot. A mounting plate is connected to the base of the U-shaped portion and extends in a second direction normal to the base to permit connection of the mounting bracket to the vehicle frame.

  • Patent number: 6938716
Abstract: An anti-rollover system is used with a concrete mixing truck with a mixing drum, in particular during turning maneuvers, for preventing rollovers by the truck. The anti-rollover system is comprised of one or more sensors on the truck which generate an input signal representative of the truck's operating conditions indicative of a rollover condition. The system compares the sensor signal against stored data indicative of rollover conditions and if necessary initiates corrective action to prevent the truck from rolling over. Corrective action includes stopping, or in some circumstances slowing, rotation of the drum carrying a concrete load. With mixing trucks including a booster axle system, corrective action may additionally or separately include unloading the booster axle.

  • Patent number: 6719118
Abstract: The spacing device mounted to a two-section chute system prevents inadvertent contact between the two chute sections. The spacing device includes a mounting flange and a blocking member positionable between first and second pivotally attached chute sections of a concrete mixing truck. The first chute section comprises an annular flange that is configured to contact an arcuate edge of the second chute section. The mounting flange is connected to a second end of the first chute section and the blocking member is attached to the mounting flange. The blocking member comprises a contact surface that is configured to engage a portion of the arcuate edge of the second chute section when the spacing device is in a blocking position. In the blocking position, the spacing device holds the first and second chute sections in a partially open position to prevent unintended contact between the chute sections.

  • Patent number: 6604765
Abstract: An improved bumper system includes a pair of brackets connected to the spaced frame members of a motor vehicle. A support arm is pivotally connected at one end to each of the brackets. The opposite end of each support arm is connected to a transverse beam that forms separate first and second bumper sections. The brackets support the support arms and bumper sections at a desired height above the ground. Each support arm is maintained relative to the respective bracket by gravity. A shear pin provides a redundant retention of the arm relative to the bracket. The arms and bumper sections of the improved bumper system remain in position relative to the bracket even in the event of a horizontal impact. A vertical impact of one or both bumper sections by obstacles or terrain causes the shear pin to be severed, allowing the bumper section(s) to pivot relative to the bracket, rather than to bend or deform.
