  • Patent number: 4249255
Abstract: A tuning system includes a resistive element coupled between two terminals and a movable contact which is moved along the resistive element to determine the tuning position. A switching arrangement selectively couples predetermined voltages to the terminals as a function of the position of the movable contact so that a tuning voltage for tuning all the channels in the low VHF, high VHF and UHF bands is generated at the movable contact as it is continuously and consecutively moved along the resistive element.

  • Patent number: 4249256
Abstract: A television tuning system for generating a tuning voltage for a varactor controlled local oscillator includes a continuous resistive element having first, second, third and fourth points along its resistive path which define first, second and third resistive sections corresponding, respectively, to the low VHF, high VHF and UHF tuning bands and a movable contact. A position detecting arrangement determines the position of the movable contact along the path of the resistive element to determine which band is being tuned and in response selectively couples voltages corresponding to the magnitudes of the tuning voltage corresponding to the beginning and end points of the various bands to respective points along the resistive element. As a result, with continuous motion of the movable contact a tuning voltage for each channel in the television range is developed at the movable contact.

  • Patent number: 4160210
Abstract: A printed circuit board including a serpentine conductor formed thereon is mounted on a grounded metal chasis of the receiver's tuner so that the serpentine conductor and the grounded chassis form a transmission line for matching the impedances of the receiver's antenna network and tuner circuitry. Eyelets by which the serpentine conductor is connected to the antenna network and tuner circuitry extend through the dielectric material of the printed circuit into cutout areas in the chassis. Tabs extend from the peripheries of the cutout areas toward the eyelets to form spark gaps for discharging excessively high energies which may be induced by lightning.
