  • Publication number: 20240117479
Abstract: A hydrocarbon fluid containment article having a wall with a surface that is wetted by hydrocarbon fluid. The surface includes an anti-coking coating. The anti-coking coating includes a copper salt, a silver salt, or a combination thereof. A gas turbine engine component including a wall having a first surface and an anti-coking coating on the first surface of the wall that is wetted by hydrocarbon fluid. The anti-coking coating including a copper salt, a silver salt, or a combination thereof that prevents the formation of gum or coke on a surface thereon. Methods for reducing the deposition of thermal decomposition products on a wall of an article are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20180128177
Abstract: A method of forming a hole in an engine component. The hole is formed through a wall defining first and second opposing surfaces. An inlet is located on the first surface and an outlet on the second surface where a passage connects the inlet and the outlet. Fluid is passed through the passage, emitted from the passage, and redirected upon existing the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20140248425
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a component suitable for use in a gas turbine engine, comprising the steps of forming the component from a substrate having a first surface and a second surface, forming at least one aperture through the substrate from the first surface to the second surface having a first open area, applying a first coating to at least one of the first surface and the second surface adjacent to the at least one aperture, the aperture remaining at least partially unobstructed by the first coating, applying a second coating to the first coating adjacent to the at least one aperture, the aperture remaining at least partially unobstructed by the second coating, and removing the second coating from the aperture, leaving most or all of the first coating to define a second open area which is smaller than the first open area.

  • Patent number: 7622160
Abstract: A method for applying a thermal barrier coating to an article having cooling holes and concurrently cleaning obstructions, such as TBC overspray or other debris, from those holes is disclosed. A thermal barrier coating is applied to a first surface of an article having cooling holes. Concurrently therewith, a plurality of particles are projected against a second surface of the article, such that at least some of the particles pass through the cooling holes, strike the overspray constituents prior to cooling, knocking at least some of the obstructions out of the cooling hole.
