  • Patent number: 7090600
Abstract: A driver pulley system for use in a torque converter comprises a torque transmission device. The torque transmission device is used to transmit torque between components of the driver pulley system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 24, 2003
Date of Patent: August 15, 2006
    Assignee: Hoffco/Comet Industries, Inc.

  • Patent number: 6354979
Abstract: A limited slip differential for driving axles of a vehicle wherein a rotating differential connects the axles to an engine and wherein a torque override assembly is provided to limit relative rotation between the two axles by connecting a spring biased frictional disk drive between the rotational differential and one axle by bolting the input drive to the disks to the rotational differential and keying the output drive of the disks to one of the axles. Varying limits of the torque override is obtained by any one of: the number of disks used, the material of the disks, and the strength of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5437356
Abstract: A centrifugal clutch includes a pair of clutch shoes, a rotor, and a housing around the clutch shoe and rotor. Each clutch shoe is formed to include pockets that receive drive arms on the rotors. The shape of the pocket on the top side of the clutch shoe is different than the shape of the pocket on the bottom side so that the clutch has one torque capacity if the rotor drive arm extends into the "top side" pocket and a different torque capacity if the rotor drive arm extends into the "bottom side" pocket. The side walls of each pocket and the side walls on each rotor drive arm are shaped and configured so that a user can change the torque capacity of the clutch by changing the orientation of the clutch shoes relative to the rotor drive arms inside the housing.

  • Patent number: 5419421
Abstract: A centrifugal clutch includes a pair of clutch shoes and a rotor. The rotor includes rotor arms extending into pockets formed in the clutch shoes. Sound-deadening buffer members are positioned in the pockets to lie between each rotor arm and clutch shoe to deaden sound produced by movement of a rotor arm in its clutch shoe pocket.

  • Patent number: 5377774
Abstract: A variable speed drive system for use with a self-propelled device is coupled by a belt to an engine which is mounted to the device. The variable speed drive system includes a variable pitch pulley held in spaced-apart relation to the drive shaft by a fixture and rotates about the drive shaft between a first position proximal to the engine and a second position distal to the engine. In the first position, the drive system is disengaged from the engine and the speed of the self-propelled device is zero, the belt being slack and providing no drive force to the drive system. In the second position, the drive system is moved a maximum amount about the drive shaft and is positioned to achieve a maximum speed. The drive system can also assume any intermediate position between the first and second positions, with the speed of the self-propelled device being determined by the amount of movement about the drive shaft toward the second position.

  • Patent number: 5245726
Abstract: An apparatus for shredding/reducing the size of material yard waste and having: a housing defining an intake opening through which yard waste is to be drawn and an outlet opening through which yard waste drawn through the intake opening can be expelled; an impeller having a rotational axis and at least one vane for intercepting yard waste at the intake opening and propelling the yard waste intercepted by the impeller vane centrifugally to be expelled at the outlet opening; and a cutting structure/cutting attachment for reducing the size of yard waste drawn into the intake opening and advancing towards the impeller. The cutting structures includes at least one elongate blade having its length projecting substantially parallel to the rotational axis of the impeller. In one form of the invention, the blade rotates with the impeller.
