  • Patent number: 5724770
Abstract: A top guide assembly for connection to a sliding door formed of a panel, a pair of horizontal rails, and a pair of vertical stiles. The top guide assembly comprises a pair of bracket assemblies connected generally to the upper corners of the sliding door. A top guide is provided and includes a vertical stem slidably engaged with the respective bracket assemblies, and a follower assembly is mounted on the top of the stem, is sized for making a close fit within the upper track and includes at least one deflectable tab for ensuring two point contact with the inner wall of the upper track during movement of the sliding door. A pair of bottom bracket assemblies are also provided and are connected to the sliding door adjacent the lower corners thereof. Each such assembly is formed with a downwardly opening channel which slidable receives therein a wheel mount which rotatably mounts at the lower end thereof a wheel for rolling engagement with the lower track.

  • Patent number: 4850145
Abstract: A sliding door frame and carriage assembly which includes a pair of upper corner connectors to clamp together the upper corners of the frame. Such connectors also serve as upper guides or glides. The assembly also includes a pair of lower corner connectors which clamp together the lower frame corners and mount wheels for rolling support of the door. Each connector fits within adjacent slots in the rails and stiles to hold the connectors securely in position, and simultaneously clamp together the associated rails and stiles. Each connector is characterized by a rail connector spanning section which spans a portion of the outside wall of the associated rail to stabilize the connector in position and, in the case of the lower connectors, better distribute the weight of the door.

  • Patent number: 4799529
Abstract: A sliding or swinging wardrobe door is sturdy and attractive and is quickly and easily assembled from a minimal number of inexpensive, lightweight and standardized components. The stiles and rails of the door frame have identical profiles and are cut as needed from a continuous length of inexpensive and lightweight aluminum channel stock. The stock is formed with a longitudinally continuous rear structure flange which improves appearance, adds strength and rigidity, and provides a site for mounting flush or recessed rollers. A longitudinally continuous internal screw race is used to add extensions onto the stock and to join the stiles and rails at mitered corners without the use of separate connecting brackets. A solid internal corner block provides a site for mounting door hinges. The block is two-sided to permit left-hand or right-hand use and is attached to the frame without the use of screws or brackets.
