Abstract: A conveying apparatus for moving articles such as pallets in a plurality of directions. The article is supported, at least partially, by a plurality of rollers mounted along parallel chains. The rollers are free to rotate, and are mounted to the chains with their axis of rotation approximately 45 degrees from the longitudinal axis of the chain. By selecting the chain to be driven, and its direction, the article can be moved longitudinally, laterally, or at approximately 45 degree angles to the longitudinal axis of the chains. The article can also be rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise in the area of the conveying system where sections of longitudinal chain terminate, and the next section of longitudinal chain starts, due to the perpendicular axis of rotation of rollers in adjacent chains.

Abstract: A side bearing assembly for railway rolling stock having an elastomeric body, containing granular solid substance, disposed between the body bolster and the truck bolster or side frame. The assembly is an inexpensive yet durable means for accomplishing increased support of static and dynamic loads without inhibiting the body bolster movement in a horizontal plane relative to its trucks.

Abstract: An auto railway car having a plurality of decks is provided with a pair of folding door structures for closing the loading end of the car. The doors are hinged on spherical bearing structures and include locking mechanisms for locking the doors in open or closed positions.

Abstract: A railway car for carrying autos includes a loading end having lower folding and an upper swinging door which is actuated from the lower platform of the car. The upper and lower doors are opened and closed independently to provide a complete closure for loading end.

Abstract: An operating mechanism for a hinged deck portion of a vehicle-carrying auto-rack railway car utilizing a first-class lever to counterbalance the deck end portion. A spring load is provided by a Belleville spring pack of novel, compact construction which has a substantially constant spring-force versus deflection curve such that manual manipulation of the hinged deck by operating personnel is facilitated during loading and unloading of the auto-rack car.

Abstract: The improvement in a tow delivery apparatus downstream of a horizontally oriented stuffing box crimper of an unenclosed smoothly contoured curved perforated surface tangent to and sloping gradually downward away from the outlet end of the crimper to a moving conveyor belt. A vacuum is applied to the perforations in the curved surface at such a level so that the crimped tow is pushed down the curved surface by the tow exiting the crimper.
