  • Publication number: 20070300000
Abstract: A method of interfacing two components of a computing system is provided wherein the method includes providing a pair of unidirectional, point-to-point buses to transmit data between a master bus controller of the computing system and a slave bus controller of a processor unit of the computing system. The method also includes providing means for transmitting a command packet with an address associated with data pertaining to the command from the master bus controller to the slave bus controller. In addition, the method includes providing means for determining by the slave bus controller whether the slave bus controller can accept the command. The method further includes providing means for transmitting an acknowledgement from the slave bus controller to the master bus controller after the slave bus controller receives a first signaling interval for the command packet if the slave bus controller can accept the command packet.

  • Publication number: 20070228377
Abstract: By forming bulk-like transistors in sensitive RAM areas of otherwise SOI-based CMOS circuits, a significant savings in valuable chip area may be achieved since the RAM areas may be formed on the basis of a bulk transistor configuration, thereby eliminating hysteresis effects that may typically be taken into consideration by providing transistors of increased transistor width or by providing body ties. Hence, the benefit of high switching speed may be maintained in speed-critical circuitry, such as CPU cores, while at the same time the RAM circuit may be formed in a highly space-efficient manner.

  • Publication number: 20060179638
Abstract: The invention provides a method which allows reliable production of steel products from a light steel. The steel products according to the invention exhibit isotropic deformation behaviour and are ductile at low temperature with high yield strengths. This is achieved according to the invention by a method for producing a steel product, in particular a steel sheet or steel strip, wherein a steel strip or sheet is produced from steel which contains (in % by weight): C: 1.00%, Mn: 7.00 to 30.00%, Al: 1.00 to 10.00%, Si: 2.50 to 8.00%, Al +Si: 3.50 to 12.00%, B: 0.01%, Ni: 8.00%, Cu: 3.00%, N: 0.60%, Nb: 0.30%, Ti: 0.30%, V: 0.30%, P: 0.01% and iron and unavoidable impurities as the remainder, from which strip or sheet the fmished steel product is subsequently produced by cold forming that takes place at a degree of cold forming of 2 to 25%.

  • Publication number: 20060109089
Abstract: A sports timing system for timing periods of a sporting event is provided. The sports timing system includes a signaling device, a transmitter, a receiver, and a controller. The signaling device includes a pressure transducer. The pressure transducer generates a first signal when pressure is applied to the pressure transducer. The transmitter receives the first signal and generates a second signal. The receiver receives the second signal and generates a third signal. The controller receives the third signal and actuates a timer event.

  • Publication number: 20050283679
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product are disclosed for dynamically managing power in a microprocessor chip that includes physical hardware elements within the microprocessor chip. A process is selected to be executed. Hardware elements that are necessary to execute the process are then identified. The power in the microprocessor chip is dynamically altered by altering a present power state of the hardware elements that were identified as being necessary.

  • Publication number: 20050021913
Abstract: A multiprocessor computer system has a plurality of processing nodes which use processor state information to determine which coherent caches in the system are required to examine a coherency transaction produced by a single originating processor's storage request. A node of the computer has dynamic coherency boundaries such that the hardware uses only a subset of the total processors in a large system for a single workload at any specific point in time and can optimize the cache coherency as the supervisor software or firmware expands and contracts the number of processors which are being used to run any single workload. Multiple instances of a node can be connected with a second level controller to create a large multiprocessor system. The node controller uses the mode bits to determine which processors must receive any given transaction that is received by the node controller.
