  • Patent number: 6775919
Abstract: A precision, hardened, radially relieved locating pin (20) comprised of a pair of cylindrically ground radially opposed locating segments (22), a pair of radially opposed radial reliefs (26) adjacent to the locating segments, a chamfered lead portion (30) and a mounting/attachment portion (32) which can be of any suitable configuration allowing interchangeability with diamond pin designs. The locating segments, the chamfered lead and the mounting/attachment portion are machined concentric about a common centerline (34). Radially opposed radial reliefs centerlines (36) are offset from, although parallel to, the common centerline. The amount of offset (38) is a direct function of desired travel (40) allowed between the locating pin and the feature (42) being located. The width (44) of the radially opposed locating segments is currently a percentage of segment diameter (24).

  • Patent number: 6655184
Abstract: A machine and method for corrugating a metal foil strip utilizes an enclosure defining a chamber and a controllable heat source for heating the chamber. The chamber may optionally include at least one gas that is also heated by the heat source. At least one tool set received in the chamber forms corrugations in the metal foil strip. Foil entry feeder elements supply and guide the metal foil strip from outside the chamber into the chamber and to the tool set. A drive for the tool set is mounted outside the chamber and coupled to the tool set to actuate the tool set. Foil exit delivery elements guide the strip from the tool set and out of the chamber. Where required to prevent oxidation of the foil strip, a source supplying an inert gas to the chamber at a controlled rate is used.

Relieved locating pin (20) is to be of hardened steel and requires no custom machines or custom tooling to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5100097
Abstract: A rigid base plate (20), (22), or (24) attaches to and is supported by or is manufactured as part of the vertical carriage plate (34) of a track type drafting machine. A rigid base plate (26 ), (28), or (30) attaches to and is supported by the vertical carriage plate (36) of a track type drafting machine. These base plates (20), (22), (24), (26), (28), or (30) support a matrix of elongated retainers (32) or other retaining mechanisms. These retainers (32) or non-scratching mechanisms must have the ability to retain drafting templates or curves on drafting surfaces from horizontal thru vertical and be easy to use. Said base plate (20), (22), (24), (26), (28), or (30) may be designed to contain trays for compasses, areas for calculators and be of single or multi-level design. This allows frequently used drafting tools to remain within easy reach of drafting person, allowing them to move without impairment and be more productive.

  • Patent number: 5035133
Abstract: A method and apparatus for draw forming a metal sheet over a male form to produce a three-dimensional shape. A sheet of metal is clamped between upper and lower draw plates positioned above the male form. The upper plate has an edge conforming to the male form shape. The plates and sheet are moved downwardly over the form with the edge of the upper plate firmly pressing the sheet against the form. The clamping pressure between the draw plates allows suitable slippage as drawing proceeds to produce a drawn shape of intended thickness. The drawn shape has a configuration conforming to the outer surface of the male form and has an outer surface of improved uniformity and appearance due to the wiping action of the upper plate edge.
