  • Patent number: 4303695
Abstract: A crinkle embossed surface on a flexible sheet goods substrate is created by means of applying an actinic radiation curable coating which is essentially solvent-free and comprises at least two photopolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule to the flexible sheet substrate. The coating is fully reacted and has developed essentially all of its physical properties upon exposure to actinic radiation in the temperature range of 180.degree. to 250.degree. F. for between five seconds and one minute time period resulting in a product having a clear, durable wearlayer, with stain resistant properties; scratch and scuff resistance as well as wear properties which are superior and having a uniform crinkled surface texture.

  • Patent number: 4210693
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to decorative flexible sheet goods and a method for making the same, such as sheet vinyl floor and wall coverings, wherein a crinkle finish is created on a decorative pattern on a flexible substrate in varying thicknesses and also in register with said decorative pattern. The method is accomplished by means of printing an actinic radiation curable coating which is essentially solvent-free and comprises at least one organic compound having at least two photopolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule and capable of curing upon exposure to actinic radiation. The actinic radiation cured registered coating serves the novel purpose of creating the desired relief to the pattern in register, and also forms a durable wear layer with superior stain and wear characteristics as well as gloss retention properties.

  • Patent number: 4100318
Abstract: Application of an actinic radiation curable coating which is essentially solvent free and comprises at least one organic compound having at least two photopolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule to a cushioned vinyl product comprising an expanded vinyl foam and clear vinyl overlay atop a carrier where a decorative pattern is usually present. The coating is fully reacted upon exposure to actinic radiation resulting in a tack-free surface essentially free from imperfections and property weakening voids. The actinic radiation coated cushioned sheet goods has improved stain resistance, gloss retention, scratch and abrasion resistance. The preferred application areas are sheet vinyl floor and wall coverings.
