  • Patent number: 5226344
Abstract: A rotary cutting die assembly is comprised of a support roll having a cylindrical exterior surface with a first axial slot formed in the exterior surface and extending a first depth into the support roll, and a second axial slot formed in the exterior surface adjacent the first slot and extending a second depth into the support roll, the second depth being less than the first depth. A cutting blade, shim and lock-down bar are received in the first slot of the support roll. The lock-down bar supports a plurality of set screws oriented at an acute angle relative to the cutting blade. Tightening the plurality of set screws in the lock-down bar causes the set screws to urge the cutting blade and bar apart from each other and into friction engagement against the opposite sidewalls of the first slot, thereby securing the cutting blade and mounting bar in the first slot.

  • Patent number: 5083488
Abstract: A radially adjustable anvil roll assembly is provided for use with a die cutting cylinder of a rotary die cutting press. The adjustable anvil roll assembly comprises a shaft mounted for selective and intermittent rotation on the press, and a pair of eccentrics provided on an intermediate portion of the shaft. A hollow cylindrical sleeve is mounted for free rotation on the shaft eccentrics. Rotating the shaft so that the maximum eccentricity of the eccentrics is directed toward the die cutting cylinder adjustably positions the cylindrical sleeve in its closest adjusted position toward the cylinder. Rotating the shaft 180.degree. so that the maximum eccentricity of the eccentrics is directed away from the die cutting cylinder adjustably positions the cylindrical sleeve in a radially adjusted position furthest away from the die cutting cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4715250
Abstract: A rotary cutting cylinder comprising a generally cylindrical central section, the central section having a plurality of longitudinally spaced grooves, and at least one longitudinal slot having opposing sidewalls crossing the grooves. A cutting rule and mounting bar are positioned in the slot. The mounting bar has a plurality of set screws aligned with the grooves in the cylinder so that a tool can be inserted in the grooves to operate the set screws to urge the cutting rule and mounting bar against opposite walls of the slot to engage the cutting rule in the slot.
