  • Patent number: 4624514
Abstract: A station interface and protector apparatus for use on a telephone line pair includes a protector device having terminals connected from each line to a round terminal, via a gas discharged tube and/or a protective air gap and includes an insulated cover which covers the protector device and is provided with a telephone receptacle (jack) to which the incoming telephone line pair is connected. A cable having a plurality of wires therein is terminated on one end with a cooperating telephone line plug disposed within the receptacle with the other end of the cable wires being connected to a plurality of terminals provided in the cover which is additionally adapted to receive the subscribers telephone line pairs.

  • Patent number: 4533971
Abstract: A shorting cage is provided in a telephone terminal housing having a protector well so that when the protector cartridge is removed from its cooperating well, the shorting mechanism in the form of a cage will cause the line to remain shorted until a replacement protector cartridge, with the protective device included therein, is reinserted into the terminal well. Replacing the protector cartridge into the well without a protective device disposed therein will not remove the line short.

  • Patent number: 4529260
Abstract: A self-retaining electrically conductive contact suitable for use in insulated terminal blocks and connectors requiring a minimum of spaces between the conductive elements includes a first section which may be formed as a male or female element, a middle section provided with semi-circularly shaped ears which are sloped in a manner to guide the retaining ears around a retaining surface provided in an insulating member when inserted therein and retaining the contact therein once the contact is inserted in the insulated member. The other end section is formed to receive an electrical conductor thereon as required.

  • Patent number: 4467920
Abstract: A book safe characterized by moveable and immoveable covers connected by a backbone, the immoveable cover containing a reinforced receptacle for valuables, both said covers being interconnected and retained against separation by a velour lining, the book safe having simulated gilded edges on the exterior of the receptacle. The book safe is intended to simulate a volume of a Reader's Digest Condensed Book.

  • Patent number: 4447848
Abstract: An overvoltage surge protector and housing for telephone communication lines to protect equipment connected thereto includes an insulated housing having one terminal disposed therein which is adapted to be connected to earth ground and a second terminal disposed in a removable assembly which includes the means for connection to the communication line as an integral part thereof. The overvoltage surge protector device is adapted to be retained within the second terminal and, when removed for replacement by a service technician, requires that the communication line affixed to the terminal be removed from the terminal in order to remove the protector device, thus requiring the communication lines to be reconnected when the defective protective device is removed and/or replaced.

  • Patent number: 4424546
Abstract: A miniature surge protector for use in telephone central offices, or the like which are provided with terminal blocks for communication lines includes an in-line over-current coil arrangement which grounds each communication line if an overcurrent flows therethrough and is additionally provided with a gas tube surge protector and an auxiliary air gap disposed across a pair of communication lines and a common ground terminal, thus providing overvoltage and overcurrent protection to a pair of telephone communication lines.

  • Patent number: 4342599
Abstract: This invention relates to the reduction of water demand in alkaline aqueous suspensions containing free cations, particularly in the wet process production of Portland cement and more specifically to the use of carbon dioxide and anionic polymer dispersants to realize such a water demand reduction. The combination of the carbon dioxide and anionic polymer dispersant is synergistic and the combination effectively reduces the water demand of the suspended solids at concentrations where neither additive alone is effective.

  • Patent number: 4173457
Abstract: A mining or drilling tool which has a region subject to excessive wear is hardfaced on such region with sintered chromium carbide particles metallurgically bonded on the tool by a steel matrix which is alloyed with the particles at the interfaces therebetween. The particles are in a size range of 10 to 60 mesh and are present in an amount for effective abrasion resistance. The particles are comprised of grains of chromium carbide having an average size in the range of 0.5 to 25 microns disposed in a binder comprising a major portion of nickel. Minor portions of grain growth inhibitors, particularly, tinanium carbide and molybdenum carbide, are preferably components of the carbide particles so as to inhibit growth of the chromium carbide grains to be such that such grains have an average size in the range of 0.5 to 15 microns.
