  • Publication number: 20140067148
Abstract: A method configures field devices with confidence against incorrect settings. A graphics editor has a first display area, which contains a graphics display of functions of a first field device, and a second display area which contains a graphics display of a further field device which is connected to the first field device and displays indications of possible output signals. A selection by a user of an output signal from the further field device and of a function of the first field device is detected. Parameter sets are produced which contain instructions for configuring a communication link of the first field device and of the further field device which, when a selected output signal is present for the further field device, indicate that a data message has been sent to the first field device and that the selected function of the first field device has been initiated.

  • Publication number: 20130211610
Abstract: A method configures an energy automation device and can be carried out more easily and more quickly and also with comparatively less susceptibility to errors. A system circuit diagram of a substation of an electrical power grid is generated by a configuration computer. The system circuit diagram is configured to be displayed by a display device of the configuration computer and contains component depictions that are graphic representations of primary devices of the substation. The system circuit diagram contains connections between the component depictions that are graphic representations of the electrical links between the primary devices. A selection of a sub-region of the system circuit diagram which is made by a user of the configuration computer is detected, and the selected sub-region of the circuit diagram is converted into a display configuration file suitable for a display device of the energy automation device.

  • Patent number: 8219255
Abstract: A method and a system for controlling an electrical installation uses a graphics-based control system, e.g. a SCADA system and a geo-referenced information system, such as a geographic information system. The system is capable of displaying at least one component of the electrical installation and a piece of geo-referenced information that is linked to the component of the electrical installation. In the GIS, selectable context menus can be displayed in relation to specific geographic reference points, in particular in relation to the location coordinates of the components of the electrical installation, the menus being selected by a user. The context menus determine control commands for the SCADA system, the commands are transmitted directly to the SCADA system after a relevance check and are executed. A user can thus use the GIS system as a type of entry mask for the specification of control commands in the SCADA system.

  • Patent number: 7757205
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for preparing a standardized functionality which is independent form the type of appliance and is used to create a solution in the field of automation. The specific properties and functions of different automation systems are directly covered or generalized on respective appliances by a system-specific adapter, the automation runtime layer. Another component implemented on the respective appliance, the runtime framework, provides a general automation functionality and/or base functionality. The automation solution can thus be created in a standardized manner on an engineering system, and randomly ported independently from the respective target platform. Uniform object libraries can be used and already created solutions can be recycled independently from the system.

  • Patent number: 7707318
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for updating information displayed on a client in a process data-driven environment. An updating stamp is provided along with information units used for displaying process data of automation devices in a browser during collection thereof. The updating stamp is compared with an updating stamp which is managed in a system and is updated whenever new information is added for the respective information unit, the information being updated in the browser if the updating stamps are not identical.

  • Publication number: 20060176891
Abstract: A method for exchanging data between a communications unit and a data source of a control system, during which a runtime system comprised of hardware components and software components transfers data between the data source and a communications unit, and a processing chain controls and/or monitors the exchange of data. The process can be modified easily and without interrupting the runtime system. To this end, the invention provides that the processing chain is composed of processing routines, which each have a uniform input interface, whereby the processing routines are called up in succession, and the data of a called up processing routine are fed to the input interface of an immediately subsequent processing routine. In addition, the runtime system manages a dynamic storage area and accesses this storage area in order to establish the sequence with which the processing routines are called up.
