  • Patent number: 6004305
Abstract: A catheter assembly for draining and collecting fluid from a body cavity has a container having an inner containment space defined therewith. An elongate tubular catheter extends longitudinally through the container. A tip member/lubricant reservoir is mounted to the catheter passage opening. A quantity of lubricant is disposed within a tip member/lubricant reservoir and lubricate the catheter as it is extended from the container.

  • Patent number: 5381782
Abstract: A bi-directional endoscope comprising a catheter body having a tubular spring frame attached to and extending axially from the distal end thereof. The spring frame comprises a spring body which includes a tip member positioned on the distal end thereof, and a plurality of relief slots disposed therein for allowing the deflection of the spring frame within a first deflection plane. The relief slots are formed in the spring body in a manner defining first and second longitudinally extending stiffening portions which are oriented substantially diametrically opposite each other therewithin. Extending longitudinally through the catheter body and spring frame is a pair of activation wires which are encased by a pair of support sleeves. The spring frame is deflected by stressing the activation wires by subjecting either of the wires to a tensile force.

  • Patent number: 5312416
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a device for deploying and retrieving a flexible tissue containment sac within a body cavity, through a minimal access incision. The device generally includes a tubular introducer having a flexible tissue containment sac disposable in a compressed configuration within the lumen of such tubular introducer. An elongate plunger shaft or pushing member is insertable or passable through at least a portion of the introducer lumen to push the containment sac out of the distal end of the lumen. Attached to the containment sac and extending through the lumen of the introducer is a tether. A portion of the tether may extend out of the proximal end of the introducer. The proximal end of the tether may be grasped and pulled in a proximal direction to pull the containment sac to a retrieved position on the end of an extractable shaft or, in embodiments absent such extractable shaft, to pull at least a portion of the containment sac into the introducer lumen.
