  • Publication number: 20160036180
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing and a conductive contact member disposed in the housing. A first contact portion of the conductive contact member receives a blade contact of an electrical device and a second contact portion electrically engages an inserted electrical wire. A spring member is disposed in the housing and is connected to the contact member. A rotatable member is movable between first and second positions. When the rotatable member is in the second position the spring member secures an inserted wire in electrical engagement with the conductive contact member and prevents removal of the inserted wire. When the rotatable member is in the first position the spring member allows for removal of an inserted wire and allows for insertion of a wire in the housing.

  • Patent number: 9236723
Abstract: A cover assembly for a floor box includes a base with a central opening and a cover pivotally connected to the base by a hinge member. The hinge member has a hinge body with a first end pivotally connected to the base for pivoting with respect to the base and second end pivotally connected to the cover for pivoting with respect to the cover. A tab extends from the second end of the hinge body to contact a bottom surface of the cover to limit pivoting movement of the cover with respect to the hinge body. A slide surface is provided on the base that contacts an end of the cover during pivoting movement of the cover to prevent wear on a gasket with the opening of the base.

  • Publication number: 20150064944
Abstract: A tamper-resistant assembly for an electrical device, such as an electrical receptacle, includes a housing enclosing movable shutter members, each having a ramped surface protected by an overlying winged cover member engageable by an object, such as a plug blade, inserted in an opening in the electrical device. Each shutter member has a pair of pockets on opposite sides of the ramped surface that anchor the wings of the cover member. The pockets extend laterally outward from the sides of the ramped surface, and the wings of the cover member are configured such that they flex inward during assembly and then snap into the pockets. Other mating features of the cover member and the shutter member help ensure secure anchoring of the cover member.

  • Patent number: 8124872
Abstract: A portable junction or outlet box is provided having an elastomeric outer layer to provide impact resistance and abrasion resistance to the electrical box. The outer layer encloses the outer surface of a rigid electrical box and overlies the side walls and end walls of the electrical box. The corners of the outer layer define a thickened portion relative to the side portions of the outer layer to increase the impact resistance.
