  • Publication number: 20240150270
Abstract: A method of selectively recovering a lipophilic target substance. An insoluble adsorbent is exposed to a solution of the target substance in a lipophilic solvent. Adsorption of the adsorbent with the target substance is facilitated by addition of hydrophilic solvent, which is less hydrophobic than the lipophilic solvent, to the solution during or after exposure of the solution to the insoluble adsorbent, lowering the temperature of the solution or evaporating a portion of the lipophilic solvent. The adsorbent Is isolated from the solution. For desorbing and recovering the target substance, a hydrophobic dissociation fluid may be combined with the adsorbent, a temperature of the adsorbent may be increased or a portion of the hydrophilic solvent may be evaporated. A solution may be exposed to one or more adsorbents for recovering additional lipophilic target substances, recovering hydrophilic target substances or removing unwanted substances.

  • Publication number: 20240115715
Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition, a combination product including the composition and a method of manufacturing the composition. The composition includes a particulate complex of API bound with a crosslinked polysaccharide micro sponge. The combination product includes a dosage form of the particulate complex within a container. The amount of the particulate complex is selected to provide a defined dose of the API. The formulation may be heated within the container by a vaporizer device, vaporizing the API and dissociating the API from the micro sponge as vapour, which passes through apertures in the container facilitating administration of the API by inhalation of the vapour. The apertures are sized to facilitate passage of the vapour but prevent passage the particulate complex. The API may be hydrophobic such as phytocannabinoids or hydrophilic such as nicotine. The pharmaceutical composition may be manufactured by driving binding of the API to the micro sponge in solution.

  • Publication number: 20220363658
Abstract: A method of selectively recovering a hydrophobic target substance. The method is applied to a solution of the target substance in a hydrophobic solvent. An insoluble polysaccharide is combined with the solution, the solution is passed over the insoluble polysaccharide or otherwise exposed to the insoluble polysaccharide. A hydrophilic solvent, which is less hydrophobic than the hydrophobic solvent, is combined with the solution or combined with the hydrophobic target substance and the insoluble polysaccharide after evaporation of the hydrophobic solvent to facilitate binding of the insoluble polysaccharide with the target substance rather than remaining in solution in the hydrophobic solvent. The cyclic polysaccharide is isolated from the solution. A dissociation solvent is combined with the cyclic polysaccharide for solubilizing the target substance from the cyclic polysaccharide and recovering the target substance.

  • Publication number: 20150249408
Abstract: A method to control the rotor position in a reluctance machine involves energizing the phase winding so to move the rotor relative to the stator, freewheeling current through the phase winding over a freewheeling period, sampling rate of change of phase current and amplitude of phase current, de-energizing the phase winding and computing the angular position of the rotor.

  • Publication number: 20150066337
Abstract: Large numbers of engine parameters result in a need for significant processing power to calculate the engine control values using algorithms in real-time. The disclosure provides an engine control system having a data library comprising an explicit model predictive control derived set of output data values. The data library comprises a subset of output data values in respect of each combination of input data values. The subset of output data values may be configured to control one or more aspects of engine performance.

  • Publication number: 20150046067
Abstract: Engines produce not only primary energy in the form of kinetic energy transmitted through a rotating crankshaft but also secondary energy which may comprise kinetic energy in other forms as well as thermal energy. In order to reduce engine running costs and increase efficiency there is a desire to make best use of all forms of energy produced by an engine. The disclosure relates to the adoption of an equivalent consumption minimisation strategy by which the engine may be controlled to derive useful energy from a first proportion of primary energy and a second proportion of secondary energy wherein the first and second proportions are selected to minimise overall energy consumption.

  • Publication number: 20100239809
Abstract: A mat assembly comprises a number of tiles adapted to be coupled together to define a substantially continuous tread surface. Each tile comprises a base 12 comprising a number of upstanding strips 14 which extend across the tile 10. Scraper strips 18 are provided in channels 16 defined between the base 12 and the upstanding strips 14, the scraper strips 18 adapted to scrape or brush material, for example, dirt, fluid and the like from the shoes of people entering a building, thereby trapping this material and preventing it from being tracked into the building.

  • Patent number: 7252480
Abstract: A method for generating an internal pack coating having different, controlled thicknesses includes partially filling a root opening of a turbine blade having a cavity therein with a first powder and a second powder having different formulations so that the first powder contacts a first predefined portion of the surface of the cavity and the second powder contacts a second predefined portion of the surface of the cavity. The method further includes heating the object with the first powder and the second powder therein to thereby produce a coating of the internal cavity having different coating thicknesses over the first portion of the surface of the cavity and the second portion of the surface of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6884036
Abstract: A turbine nozzle includes outer and inner bands integrally joined to a vane having a three-pass serpentine flow circuit between opposite pressure and suction sidewalls. The outer band includes an inlet for channeling cooling air into a first channel of the circuit located behind a leading edge of the vane. A first outlet is disposed in the inner band at the bottom of the first channel where it joins the second channel of the circuit. A second outlet is also disposed in the inner band at the bottom of a third channel of the circuit which is disposed in flow communication with the second channel. The first channel behind the leading edge is smooth except for corresponding rows of first and second turbulators spaced laterally apart. • Patent number: 6652914
Abstract: A gas turbine blade which has previously been in service is protected by cleaning the gas turbine blade, and then first depositing a platinum first layer on the airfoil and the platform of the gas turbine blade. Thereafter, a platinum second layer is deposited over the platform but not the airfoil.
