  • Patent number: 11933167
Abstract: A deployable electrical contact device is provided that includes a body portion and a mounting arrangement. The mounting arrangement is controllably deployable from the body portion. The mounting arrangement is configured to retain the device at a position at a metallic well structure by mechanically engaging with a wall surface of the metallic well structure. The mounting arrangement includes electrically conductive pads configured to provide electrical continuity between the engaged metallic well structure and the mounting arrangement. The device is configured such that when deployed an electrical signal path between one or more of the conductive pads and the body portion is established to provide electrical continuity between the metallic well structure and the body portion.

  • Patent number: 11828170
Abstract: There are described devices and methods for use, for example, with signaling in a well, e.g. using a well structure of the well. Such signaling may include the communication of power and/or data signals. The devices and methods used may assist with efficient and/or effective communication of such signals. In some examples, there is described deployable devices and methods, e.g. a deployable device for signaling contact in a well, and methods associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 7044219
Abstract: A shock absorbing tool for use in pipelines and oil wells, particularly in combination with perforation guns comprises a central mass supported on two springs between the end terminal members. The shock wave is absorbed in the free oscillation of the mass. The mass is constituted by a piston assembly. A steel rope permits the shock absorbing tool to be maneuvered within the bore hole without damage to the springs.

  • Patent number: 6868901
Abstract: A tubular cutting tool includes two or more sets of electrically actuated retractable anchoring legs mounted at longitudinally spaced apart locations and an electrically driven rotary cutting head with a retractable cutting blade. The anchoring legs can be arranged such that they are capable of compensating for variations in the internal radii of the tubular to be cut, thereby ensuring that the cutting tool is clamped rigidly in position.

  • Publication number: 20020150436
Abstract: A tubular cutting tool includes two or more sets of electrically actuated retractable anchoring legs (52,54) mounted at longitudinally spaced apart locations and an electrically driven rotary cutting head (14) with a retractable cutting blade (14). The anchoring legs can be arranged such that they are capable of compensating for variations in the internal radii of the tubular to be cut, thereby ensuring that the cutting tool is clamped rigidly in position.
