Abstract: An immersive image viewing system and a method of generating an immersive viewing scene. The method comprises the steps of: displaying a scene on a first viewing area, the scene comprised of at least one image; displaying a lighting environment on a second viewing area separate from the first viewing area, the first and second viewing areas defining an immersive viewing environment for an observer for viewing the scene; and coordinating the simultaneous displaying of the scene and the lighting environment on the first and second viewing areas, respectively, within the immersive viewing environment to generate an immersive viewing scene.

Abstract: A non-invasive method for evaluating the degree of healing around a prosthetic device or implant that is obscured by tissue employs a source of imaging radiation that illuminates an area of bone or tissue around the prosthetic device or implant. The method comprises obtaining first and second images representing the bone or tissue taken at different times; determining reference points identifying similar image positions in the first and second images; registering the first and second images by utilizing the reference points, thereby producing first and second registered images; utilizing the registered images in a subtractive process to determine the differences between the first and second images; and utilizing the differences between the first and second images to generate measurements of bone or tissue growth over time around the site of the prosthetic device or implant, thereby measuring the extent of healing around the prosthetic device or implant.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining whether a postal object has been exposed to a predetermined level of radiation. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus is a postage stamp including a radiation detection portion comprising a radiation sensitive material having a first characteristic and a visually observable second characteristic when exposed to a predetermined level of radiation, the first characteristic differing from the second characteristic.

Abstract: A dual-capture camera for capturing both digital and conventional images comprising: a housing having an inlet for receiving incident light; a mechanism for splitting the received incident light into two portions; an image sensor for sequentially capturing a plurality of digital images for forming a digital still image or digital video; and conventional film for receiving incident light from the beam splitter upon a predetermined criteria for capturing a conventional image having a time and date stamp; wherein, when the conventional image is date and time stamped, the digital image substantially corresponding in time to the captured conventional image is also date and time stamped with the same date and time stamp as the conventional image.
