The core section can be made exclusively of bamboo fibers artificially fused together. The outer section has opposite bottom and top subsections and opposite side subsections, adhered to corresponding sides of the core section. The outer section can be made of bamboo strips. The bat also has an insert or plug made of a wood material. The insert or plug is disposed in a void provided in a distal end portion of the bat.
