  • Publication number: 20170104714
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method and apparatus for resolving domain name system queries using unique top-level domains in a private network space are disclosed. For example, the method determines that a domain name service query specifies a destination residing in a private network space rather than in a public Internet space. The method then routes the domain name service query to a top-level domain name service server associated with the private network space, without routing the domain name service query to a root domain name service server in the public Internet space. The top-level domain name system server resides in the highest level of a hierarchy of domain name system servers belonging to the private network space.

  • Patent number: 9621849
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a computer-readable storage medium in a media controller having computer instructions to execute a soft-phone client application on the media processor, receive an audio call or a video call originating from an IP Multimedia Subsystem network where the calls are directed to the media processor by a gateway having a switch that routes the audio call or video call in accordance with a destination address included in a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) header message, and selectively answer one of the audio call or the video call. The computer instructions can be operable to present an audio portion of the audio call through a speaker of a presentation device when an audio call is answered. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20160123758
Abstract: In some cases, a method may include receiving information at a media device that is associated with movement of an accessory device. The accessory device is communicatively coupled to the media device via a media interface of the media device (e.g., a mini-phone jack of the media device). The method includes determining, at the media device, whether the accessory device satisfies accessory device orientation criteria based on the information. In response to determining that the accessory device does not satisfy the accessory device orientation criteria, the method includes generating a signal. The signal may be communicated from the media device to the accessory device via the media interface. In some cases, the signal may include accessory device re-orientation information.

  • Publication number: 20160085566
Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for providing and using an accessory setting service. Accessory data can be received from a computing device in communication with an accessory. The accessory data can include a unique identifier associated with the accessory. Based upon the unique identifier, a determination can be made as to whether or not the accessory data relates to a new accessory. If the accessory data does not relate to a new accessory, settings data associated with the accessory can be generated and transmitted to a recipient. If the accessory data relates to the new accessory, accessory settings associated with the accessory can be identified and stored with the unique identifier as accessory settings data.

  • Publication number: 20150365626
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a method at a gateway device that registers at least one mobile phone number with the gateway device via a femtocell integrated with the gateway device when a mobile device associated with the at least one mobile phone number is within range of the femtocell, registers at least one voice over internet protocol phone number with the gateway device, and selectively receives and makes calls using one of a set top box registered with the gateway device, the mobile device registered with the femtocell, a voice over internet protocol phone corresponding to the at least one voice over internet protocol phone number. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9172902
Abstract: A particular method includes receiving program data designating media content to be recorded at a media recorder. An electronic program guide accessible to the media recorder includes multiple scheduled delivery times for the media content. The method includes receiving delay data. The delay data enables delayed recording of the media content and specifies at least one delay recording condition. The method includes determining an onset time to begin recording the media content based on the multiple scheduled delivery times for the media content and based on the at least one delay recording condition. The method also includes scheduling the media content to be recorded at the media recorder beginning at the onset time.
