    Abstract: An orthodontic article is described comprising a cured composition comprising the reaction product of free-radically polymerizable resin comprising at least one monomer, oligomer and/or polymer, comprising at least two (meth)acryl moieties; a monofunctional reactive diluent; and a polymer or macromolecule comprising a free-radical photoinitiator group. The polymer or macromolecule has a molecular weight of at least 500 g/mole. In one embodiment, the cured composition comprises a first and second photoinitiator wherein at least one is a polymer or macromolecule. Also described are photopolymerizable compositions and methods.

    Abstract: An optical assembly including an optical element insert molded directly onto an optical stack is provided. The optical stack includes an optical film and may include a liner with the optical film being disposed between the optical element and the liner. The liner, if included, is removable from the optical film without substantial damage to the optical film. An outermost layer of the optical film may be diffusion bonded to a major surface of the optical element. The optical film includes a protective coating having an average thickness of no more than 30 micrometers. The protective coating includes an at least partially cured composition. The composition includes 70 to 96 weight percent of urethane (meth)acrylate compound having an average (meth)acrylate functionality of 2 to 9.5, and 2 to 20 weight percent of (meth)acrylate monomer having a (meth)acrylate functionality of 1 to 2.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods of making a hydrated orthodontic article is provided. One method includes a) providing a photopolymerizable composition; b) selectively curing the photopolymerizable composition using actinic radiation to form an article in the shape of an orthodontic article having a plurality of layers of at least one photopolymerized polymer; and c) exposing the article to water by submersion in water, thereby hydrating the article. A sheet of the at least one photopolymerized polymer has a bending modulus when hydrated of 100 MPa or greater and 2200 MPa or less. Another method includes exposing the orthodontic article to water vapor and hermetically sealing the hydrated orthodontic article in a container. Hydrated orthodontic articles are also provided, including an orthodontic article that is prepared according to one of the methods.

A cured homopolymer of the monofunctional (meth)acrylate monomer has a glass transition temperature of 125 degrees Celsius or greater.     Abstract: A vehicle sensor system is described comprising an exterior surface; and a repellent composition disposed on the exterior surface, wherein the repellent composition exhibits an increase in haze according to the Dirty Water Spray Test of less than 5, 4, 3, or 2%. In typical embodiments, the repellent composition exhibits an advancing water contact angle from 90° to 125°. In some embodiments, the sensor system comprises a camera, a laser, a LIDAR sensor, a sonar sensor, or a radar sensor. The exterior surface is typically a windshield surface, a protective housing, or a lens surface. In some favored embodiments, the repellent composition exhibits a roll-off angle of no greater than 25, 20, 15, 10 or 5 degrees.

    Abstract: A method of making a shaped abrasion-resistant multilayer optical film includes providing a curable composition comprising, based on the total weight of components a) to d) components: a) 87 to 96 weight percent of urethane (meth)acrylate compound having an average (meth)acrylate functionality of 2 to 4.8; b) 2 to 12.5 weight percent of (meth)acrylate monomer having a (meth)acrylate functionality of 1 to 2, wherein the (meth)acrylate monomer does not comprise a urethane (meth)acrylate compound; optionally c) 0.5 to 2 weight percent of silicone (meth)acrylate; and d) optional effective amount of photoinitiator. Lastly, the abrasion-resistant multilayer optical film is thermoformed using a female mold having a mold surface.

The infrared-reflecting optically transparent assembly and methods of including it in an infrared-reflecting lens assembly are also disclosed.

In some embodiments, the first free-radical photoinitiator exhibits a maximum absorbance at a wavelength of the range of 370-380 nm or 320-330 nm and/or comprises photoinitiator groups selected from acyl phosphine oxide or alkyl amine acetophenone.
