  • Patent number: 7106216
Abstract: A radio wave system for repelling birds from aircraft that includes a directional radio wave transmitting rod, a frequency transmitter unit wired to the directional radio wave transmitting rod, and an activation switch in controlling connection with the frequency transmitting unit. The frequency transmitting unit generates and transmits radio wave signals, when the activation switch is in an on position, to the directional radio wave transmitting rod which emits a cone shaped radio wave signal in front of an aircraft. The cone shaped radio signal is emitted at a frequency detected by birds in flight which are deflected onto a flight path which avoids collisions between the birds and the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 4986375
Abstract: A device for facilitating the retrieval of a drill bit from a crooked hole, a soft rock or a broken rock formation is disclosed. The device is secured to a drill string at one end and to a drill bit an an opposite end. The device includes a cylindrical member having a helical member of gradually increasing radial thickness secured about its periphery. The helical member has a plurality of hardened cutter members secured to and projecting from its periphery. The radial thickness of the helical member is greatest at that section of the device closest to the drill bit and least at that section of the device closest to the drill string. The device clears obstructions in the bore hole above the drill bit to ease the removal of the bit from the hole, while at the same time, the device avoids enlarging the bore hole on either the advancing or retrieving trip of the drill string. The device further serves to maintain alignment of the drill string during advancement into and retrieval from the bore hole.

  • Patent number: 4968332
Abstract: An oil storage tank separator unit to prevent the discharge into the surrounding natural environment of a high pressure, high velocity stream of oil and/or salt water during venting of a natural gas well head. The separator unit is coupled to a vent of an oil storage tank which is connected to the well head. The separator unit is comprised of a hollow shell structure for housing a flow energy dissipating system including a flow dissipating assembly in the form of discharge flow redirecting means and an aggregation of stainless steel or molded steel turnings. When a pressurized gas and liquid mixture is supplied to the oil storage tank, a portion of the pressurized mixture flows through the vent of the storage tank and into the separator unit. The flow energy dissipating system prevents the liquid from being vented to the environment while allowing the gaseous portion of the mixture to be vented. The liquid portions of the mixture thereafter fails back into the storage tank.
