  • Patent number: 6771841
Abstract: A multi-dimensional bounding sphere is determined for a collection of points by determining a multi-dimensional bounding box that encompasses all of the points, determining the center of the bounding sphere from the center of the bounding box, and determining the radius of the bounding sphere as the distance from the center of the bounding sphere to a location not closer to the center of the bounding sphere than any of the points in the collection of points.

  • Patent number: 6717621
Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a method of reducing flicker in a video image sequence includes the following. Successive video images are temporally filtered. The filter length is adjusted so as to reduce the amount of filtering across temporal discontinuities in the video image sequence. Briefly, in accordance with another embodiment of the invention, a method of reducing flicker in a video image sequence includes the following. Successive video images are temporally filtered. The filter length is dynamically adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6559848
Abstract: Three-dimensional data that defines a bone in a three-dimensional model is coded by coding a quaternion defining an orientation of the bone, coding vectors defining a displacement of the bone and a scaling factor for the bone, and coding a value defining a time corresponding to the orientation, displacement and scaling of the bone.

  • Patent number: 6526179
Abstract: A method comprising decoding a video image such that the decoding generates a number of transform coefficients. Additionally, the number of transform coefficients are processed to determine whether to sharpen the video image.

  • Patent number: 6353680
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus that comprises a memory including one or more instructions and a processor coupled to the memory. In response to the one or more instructions, the processor transforms an image to provide a transformed image and quantizes the transformed image to provide a quantized image. In response to the quantized image, the processor iteratively generates one or more step sizes using a variable image model parameter and transmits the one or more step sizes. In one embodiment, the processor transmits the one or more step sizes along with the variable image model parameter.

  • Patent number: 6330372
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises the detection of an edge pixel in an unsharpened image. The edge pixel is sharpened to form a sharpened image. Additionally, a region of the sharpened image is selected such that the region includes the edge pixel. The region of the sharpened image is compared to a corresponding region of the unsharpened image to form a difference value. The difference value is then processed to form a final image.

  • Patent number: 6226410
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus that includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory contains instruction executed by the processor to transform an image to provide a transformed image, quantize the transformed image to provide a quantized image, and process the quantized image to iteratively generate one or more step sizes. The processor is adapted to transmit the one or more step sizes to an image decoder.
