  • Publication number: 20240165250
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a class of compounds including a ligand moiety that specifically binds to a cell surface receptor, such as a folate receptor. The cell surface folate binding compound can trigger the receptor to internalize into the cell a bound compound. The ligand moieties of this disclosure can be linked to a variety of moieties of interest without impacting the specific binding to, and function of, the cell surface receptor, e.g., folate receptor. Also provided are compounds that are conjugates of the ligand moieties linked to a biomolecule, such as an antibody, which conjugates can harness cellular pathways to remove specific proteins of interest from the cell surface or from the extracellular milieu. Also provided herein are methods of using the conjugates to target a polypeptide of interest for sequestration and/or lysosomal degradation.

  • Patent number: 8003170
Abstract: A system for controlling the residual moisture in pre-cured binder coated glass fibers. The moisture of the binder coated glass fibers is measured after the process water is extracted in a collection box. Based on the level of moisture found in the coated glass fibers, adjustments are made to the process upstream of the moisture measurements. The adjustments include, but are not limited to, adjusting the amount of water used to make the binder composition; adjusting the amount of heat applied to the binder composition as it is applied to the glass fibers and adjusting the vacuum conditions used to extract the process water from the binder coated glass fibers. Control of the residual moisture in the precured binder coated glass fibers helps ensure proper curing of the binder during the subsequent curing step.

  • Patent number: 7435600
Abstract: A method of measuring the extent of cure of a binder in a fibrous product is provided. The method comprises (a) providing a sample of a fibrous product, the fibrous product comprising fibers and a binder, (b) subjecting the sample to infrared spectroscopy to generate a spectral analysis, and (c) determining a binder cure ratio of the binder in the sample using the spectral analysis. The binder has carboxylic acid groups and alcohol groups that crosslink to form ester groups as the binder cures, and the binder cure ratio comprises a ratio between infrared absorption corresponding to a bond of the carboxylic acid groups in the binder and infrared absorption corresponding to a bond of the ester groups in the binder.

  • Publication number: 20050217167
Abstract: A snag releasing fishing hook and lure is made by constructing the hook and lure with an alternate/secondary line attachment point that is located behind the point/barb of the hook, such that if the main/primary line breaks from a debris/snag catch, the hook will twist/rotate and release from the catch by the function of the alternate/secondary line. If no secondary line is attached and the primary/main line is sufficiently strong the hook can be made fail and release from the snag without the loss of the lure.

  • Publication number: 20050115388
Abstract: A mineplough (1) which is designed to be resilient to exploding mines comprises one or more blades set at an angle to the general direction of movement of the plough so as to deflect lifted earth to one or both sides of the plough and having tines (5b-5j) arranged so as to lift earth ahead of the blade in the direction of travel thereof, depth control means for controlling the depth of cut of the tines and at least two linkages to connect the blade to a suitable carrier vehicle for the mineplough. The blade is comprised of a number of intersecting strong metal plates (2a-2j; 3a-3d) whose planes lie substantially parallel to the direction of travel of the mineplough and which define relatively narrow open channels therebetween so as to allow venting of any explosion caused by a mine exploding in contact with the blade.

  • Publication number: 20040069508
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of land mines and in particular to devices and techniques for neutralising and/or retrieving land mines. Existing mine retrieval/neutralisation techniques include mechanical excavation or shaped charge attack and such techniques are either susceptible to blast damage in the event of inadvertent mine explosion or can produce ambiguous results (i.e. an operator can be unsure as to whether a mine has been successfully attacked or a non-mine target has been attacked in error). The present invention provides a mine retrieval technique that involves spearing the mine for later retrieval to the surface.
