Abstract: A database system is operable to determine a query for execution. A disjunction of a plurality of conjunctive normal form (CNF) filtering predicates is determined based on filtering predicates of the query. An IO pipeline is generated based on the disjunction of the plurality of CNF filtering predicates that includes, based on applying at least one type of optimization, at least one shared IO element common to multiple ones of plurality of the CNF filtering predicates. The IO pipeline is executed in accordance with execution of the query to generate a filtered subset of a plurality of rows that each meet at least one of the plurality of CNF filtering predicates.

Abstract: An electrical system has a system housing and electrical components in the housing. At least two conductors of at least one of the electrical components are electrically insulated from one another by an electrical insulator. A sensor system is configured to detect a deposit of an electrically conductive foreign matter layer on the electrical insulator. The sensor system has a measuring surface arranged within the system housing on which at least two spaced-apart electrodes are arranged. The sensor system has a measurement circuit which is configured to measure a parameter which depends on a current flowing between the at least two electrodes. There is also described a method for determining a potential functional impairment in the electrical system.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying a cosmetic, such as mascara to eyelashes, includes a handle, a stem, and an applicator head coupled to the stem and supported for rotation relative to the handle. An actuator moves the applicator head in a rotational oscillating motion, in which the applicator head automatically rotates in both a first rotational direction and a second rotational direction in response to operation of the actuator. Additionally or alternatively, the actuator may also radially translate the applicator head, move the applicator head through an angle of rotation less than 360 degrees, and vary the rotational speed-of the applicator head. The applicator head may include protrusions that are spaced to define gaps during rotation, thereby to promote coverage and separation of eyelashes.
