  • Patent number: 11789018
Abstract: Methods for rapidly concentrating a food sample for efficient detection of bacteria are disclosed. A microfiltration approach followed by centrifugation was used to concentrate the cells with an enzyme (e.g., a protease) added at the beginning of the process to facilitate more efficient micro-filtering. The enzyme was found to have no significant effect on cell viability.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 2016
Date of Patent: October 17, 2023
    Assignee: Purdue Research Foundation
Inventors: Michael Ralph Ladisch, Eduardo de Aquino Ximenes, Seockmo Ku, Kirk Solon Foster, Thomas Richard Kreke, Xingya (Linda) Liu, James Thomas Jones, Amanda Deering, Jaycey Hardenstein, Alisha Tungare
