  • Patent number: 5239914
Abstract: A machine for preparing brewed beverages includes a housing; a collecting vessel station disposed in the housing for receiving a brewed beverage collecting vessel thereon; a brewing water supplying station disposed in the housing above the collecting vessel station; a filter vessel for receiving a filter and a beverage material to be extracted therein; and a filter vessel holder for vertically receiving the filter vessel therein. The filter vessel holder is pivotally attached to the exterior of the housing for rotation between a brewing position in which the filter vessel received therein is substantially disposed between the brewing water supplying station and the collecting vessel station, and a filling position in which the filter vessel received in the filter vessel holder is spaced from the interior of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5170694
Abstract: A carafe for a coffee or tea maker of the type having a mechanical outlet lock actuatable by a release member on a carafe. The carafe includes a glass container having an upper open end and a substantially flat bottom surface, which bottom surface defines a placement plane for supporting the carafe in the coffee or tea maker. There is a plastic lid attached to the upper open end of the glass container, along with a release member for actuating the mechanical outlet lock on the coffee or tea maker when the carafe is placed in the coffee or tea maker. The release member is accurately attached to the lid by an attachment between the lid and the release member at a predetermined distance from the bottom placement plane of the carafe.

  • Patent number: 5150448
Abstract: A flow heater is provided for water in a machine which produces hot water. The machine includes a water tube having an inflow end for receiving water and an outflow end for dispensing hot water, and a heating tube connected to the water tube in a heat conductive manner. The heating tube is divided over its extent into a plurality of regions of different heating outputs for, respectively, intensely heating the water to below the boiling point in a first zone of the water tube adjacent the inflow end, followed by a less intense heating of the water to attain the boiling point in a second zone of the water tube, followed by an intense heating of the water until a vigorous formation of vapor bubbles occurs in a third zone of the water tube, and finally followed by a less intense heating of the water for reheating the water in a fourth zone of the water tube adjacent the outflow end.

  • Patent number: 5102546
Abstract: A filter vessel has a beverage outlet and a closing device movable between closed and open positions in which a plug blocks and, respectivley, frees the outlet. The closing device has an operating member pivotally secured to the filter holder for movement toward and away from the outlet; and a leg disposed below the outlet and carrying the plug. The leg has a resilient end portion supported on the operating member, while an opposite end of the leg is pivotally secured to the operating member so that the leg may move relative to the operating member towards and away from the outlet. There is further provided an abutment member disposed on the filter holder and being in engagement with the leg at a location between the plug and the pivotal end of the leg.

  • Patent number: 5080612
Abstract: An improved electrical appliance includes a housing defining an inner space, a current supply cable having a plurality of conductors which extends into the housing, first contact elements constituting appliance terminals which are supported in the housing and an electrical connecting device accommodated in the inner space which electrically connects the current supply cable with the first contact elements. The electrical connecting device is formed of a solid insulating body having an end face, a plurality of second contact elements, constituting cable terminals, received in the solid insulating body and having end portions projecting outwardly from the end face of the body and an insulating terminal plate fixed in the inner space of the housing and carrying the first contact elements. The conductors of the supply cable are electrically connected to respective second contact elements. The first contact elements are in electrical contact with respective end portions of second contact elements.
