Patent number: 11130421Abstract: The electrical charging of a group of vehicles electrically connected to an electricity grid is controlled. A central control system responds to a received increase command by performing a power increase operation according to an increase scheme. The increase command stipulates an amount by which the power draw by the group of vehicles needs to be increased. The increase scheme is ascertained by the central control system based on the increase command and specifies a temporary increase in the charging power for the energy store of one or more vehicles of the group. If the charging operation for the energy store of at least one vehicle is altered by the user after reception of the increase command and before or during the power increase operation, the central control system checks whether the parameters of the altered charging operation does not decrease the amount of power according to the increase command.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2019Date of Patent: September 28, 2021Assignee: Bayerische Motoren Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Enrique Marcial-Simon, Rainer Mehlhorn, Xaver Pfab, Thomas Stauner

Patent number: 11072244Abstract: A method controls the electrical charging of a group of vehicles which are electrically connected to a power supply system of a power supply system operator, wherein the respective vehicles obtain power for charging a vehicle energy store from the power supply system. A central control system can communicate with the respective vehicles and with a server of the power supply system operator and a number of electrical units via communication signals, wherein the number of electrical units each have a higher response time for an electrical power adjustment in response to communication signals from the central control system and/or a higher time synchronicity with respect to a clock of the central control system in comparison with the vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2018Date of Patent: July 27, 2021Assignee: Bayerische Motoren Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Simon Ellgas, Enrique Marcial-Simon, Thomas Stauner, Rainer Mehlhorn, Xaver Pfab

Patent number: 10814732Abstract: A method controls the electric charging of a group of vehicles. A central control system can communicate with the respective vehicles of the group and with a server of the network operator. In each case a charging time window, a departure time and a setpoint state of charge of the vehicle-side energy store at the departure time are defined in advance for one or more specific vehicles. In addition, a cost value for the charging time window is predefined in accordance with a cost function which specifies a cost level as a function of the charging process according to the charging time window. The central control system transmits a modified charging time window to a respective specific vehicle of at least some of the specific vehicles, after which the charging process is carried out according to the modified charging time window by fulfilling the charging time criterion with an unchanged departure time and setpoint state of charge.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2018Date of Patent: October 27, 2020Assignee: Bayerische Motoren Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Simon Ellgas, Enrique Marcial-Simon, Thomas Stauner, Rainer Mehlhorn, Xaver Pfab

Patent number: 10780792Abstract: In connection with an electric charging process of vehicles electrically connected to a power supply system operated by a power supply system operator, one or more parameters to be adhered to for a charging operation of the vehicles are defined and a user of a vehicle can alter at least one of the parameters via a user interface. A central control system is configured to communicate with the vehicles and with a server of the power supply system operator. A method includes performing a power reduction operation in accordance with a reduction scheme in response to a received reduction command. In the event that, after receiving the reduction command and prior to or during the power reduction operation, the user alters at least one of the one or more parameters such that the charging operation of the energy storage device of the respective vehicle is altered, the method further includes checking, by the central control system, whether a preset criterion has been met.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2019Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: Bayerische Motoren Werke AktiengesellschaftInventors: Enrique Marcial-Simon, Rainer Mehlhorn, Xaver Pfab, Thomas Stauner
