  • Patent number: 7582578
Abstract: The present invention relates to a textile sheetlike structure (1), in particular for protection against biological and chemical noxiants and poisons, such as biological and chemical warfare agents. The sheetlike structure (1) having a textile support layer (2) and a first sheetlike piece (3) of activated carbon fibers which is laminated onto the support layer (2), wherein the sheetlike structure (1) further comprises a second sheetlike piece (4) of activated carbon fibers which is laminated onto the support layer (2) such that edges of the two sheetlike pieces (3, 4) touch and/or overlap and wherein the two sheetlike pieces (3, 4) are joined together by the support layer (2). This provides a seamless joining together of two or more sheetlike pieces to form a continuous sheetlike structure of activated carbon fibers to provide an improved material for use in the production of protective articles.

  • Patent number: 7086869
Abstract: In a flat flex cable, signal lines are surrounded by logic ground planes above and below which are viaed together left and right. The ground planes coupled with the flex cable dielectric determine characteristic the impedance and attenuation of the cable and provide differential signal EMI shielding. All signal layers and logic ground planes are enclosed within the two outermost shield layers which are viaed together left and right and around the connectors to enclose both signal layers and logic ground planes to provide common mode EMI shielding.

  • Publication number: 20020127932
Abstract: The present invention relates to three-dimensional catalyst gauzes for gas reactions knitted in two or more layers from noble metal wires in which the meshes of the individual layers are joined to one another by pile threads. In these catalyst gauzes weft threads are inserted between the mesh layers. These catalyst gauzes have an increased catalytic activity and efficiency in gas reaction. These improvements enable operation with a lower total amount of noble metal employed, for example by reducing the number of gauzes and/or the length of the wire processed in the catalyst gauze and/or the wire thickness, without thereby having to accept disadvantages with respect to the yield and selectivity of the gas reaction, mechanical strength and service life of the gauzes or unavoidable loss of noble metal.

  • Patent number: 6292573
Abstract: A portable communication device includes a speaker enclosure having a speaker and a plurality of telescoping nested shells moveable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. The shells have a top and bottom surface and interlocking sidewalls such that when the enclosure is deployed into an expanded configuration the shells form a rigid enclosure with a substantially sealed acoustic space therein. The space tunes an acoustic compliance for the speaker so as to improve broadband frequency response whether the communication device is using a privacy or speakerphone mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 6174232
Abstract: A fan check valve is formed from plastic film having an outer edge and a central region. The valve also has a number of slits that define flaps in the film. The flaps are symmetrically arrayed in a spiral-like pattern between the central region and the outer edge. The valve mounts to the outer surface of a tube axial fan. Under normal operating conditions, the fan moves a helical flow of air in a generally axial direction toward through the valve. The flaps are blown open and align with the oncoming flow at low angles of attack to minimize dynamic losses. The flaps are in the closed position and lie flush on the outer surface of the exhaust plate mounted on the fan at all other times to prevent airflow back through the fan in the opposite direction once the fan has failed.

  • Patent number: 6170301
Abstract: For producing a knitted product on a flat knitting machine with simultaneous supply of two threads of different elasticities to needles of the machine, for each stitch to be formed the length of the thread of the higher elasticity to be supplied to a needle is calculated from the supplied length of a thread of the lower elasticity and the data about the material property of the thread of the higher elasticity, and a feeding device is controlled for the thread of the higher elasticity in correspondence with the calculated thread length to be supplied.
