Abstract: A method and system for determining and displaying the position and velocity of an emergency vehicle relative to a user. For one embodiment of the invention, audio information from an emergency vehicle is received at a directional microphone. The position and velocity of the emergency vehicle are determined based upon the received audio information. The position and velocity of the emergency vehicle is input to a display device and the position and velocity of the emergency vehicle is displayed. For one embodiment of the invention, upon detection of siren frequencies of emergency vehicles, the audio system of the vehicle is interrupted to allow the vehicle operator to hear the siren.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a caller identification feature is disclosed. The caller identification feature in accordance with one embodiment of the invention identifies the number of an incoming call, compares the number to one or more numbers stored by the user, and indicates a degree of similarity between the identified number of the incoming call and one or more numbers stored by the user. For one embodiment of the invention, the number of an incoming call is identified and compared to one or more numbers stored by the user. The degree of similarity between the number of the incoming call and the one or more stored numbers is presented to the user. Based upon this information, the user provides a central site with a response instruction to the call. The central site responds according to the user's instructions.

Abstract: A method and system for an automatic messaging service. For one embodiment a messaging service associates a network address information specifying a network address with a user. When a message from a caller is subsequently received at the messaging service, the message is converted to message file which may be an audio file, a video file, a text file, or a multi-media file. The message file is then forwarded to the network address associated with the user.

Abstract: A method and system for an automatic messaging service. A central cite receives caller identification information and a corresponding response instruction from a remote user. Upon receipt of a call, the central cite automatically verifies the caller's identification and responds according to the user's instructions. For one embodiment, the caller identification information is the caller's originating phone number and the automatic response is to forward the call to an alternative phone number specified by the user.
