  • Patent number: 5116265
Abstract: This separable electrical connector module, which is movable through an operating stroke and is adapted to couple with a mating module, comprises: (a) a connector member including a copper portion containing a hole having a central longitudinal axis and internal threads surrounding the axis, and (b) a copper contact rod having one end that is externally threaded to provide external threads that mate with said internal threads and an opposite end adapted to engage a contact within the mating module.

  • Patent number: 5056537
Abstract: A cigarette comprises a blend of tobacco materials. The blend includes volume expanded flue-cured tobacco cut filler and a reconstituted tobacco material in cut filler form. The reconstituted tobacco material includes calcium carbonate and tobacco parts which are formed into a sheet-like shape using a papermaking process. The cigarette can include a filter element provided from a non-woven polypropylene web, glycerin and a water soluble tobacco extract. Such a cigarette can generate low levels of visible sidestream smoke.

  • Patent number: 4962774
Abstract: Reconstituted Tobacco has ammonia incorporated therein. Tobacco is extracted with water to yield an insoluble portion and an aqueous portion containing water soluble tobacco components. The aqueous portion is contacted with ammonia to yield an ammoniated extract. The extract is applied to the insoluble portion which has been formed into a sheet-like shape. The resulting tobacco composition is dried to yield a reconstituted tobacco material treated with ammonia.

  • Patent number: 4790410
Abstract: Safety apparatus for used by workers at height comprises a fixed safety cable (1) secured in spaced relation to a fixture (2) by supports such as (3), and a coupling device (8) by which a safety line attached to a worker's safety harness can be coupled to such cable. The coupling device comprises a rotatably mounted tube (9) having a longitudinal slot (16) and profiled ends (9'). The tube (9) is slidable along the cable (1). On abutment of a tube end (9') against an arm (5) of a support (3) the tube becomes rotated to bring the slot (16) into register with the arm (5) so that the coupling device can travel past the support (3).

  • Patent number: 4408466
Abstract: An electrical circuit adapted to control the operation of a refrigerant compressor in an automotive type air conditioning system. The electrical circuit has a pair of branch circuits, an impedance for connection in the branch circuits so as to be respectively energized and shunted therein, and condition responsive devices for enabling and disenabling one of the branch circuits. Switching means is operable for sequentially energizing and then shunting the impedance in the branch circuits to control the energization thereof subject to the enablement and disenablement of the one circuit branch by the condition responsive device.A method of operating an electrical circuit to control the operation of a refrigerant compressor in an automotive type air conditioning system is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4178260
Abstract: The invention relates to lubricants for use in metal shaping operations, especially hot and cold rolling of steel and aluminium, and casting of aluminium. Preferred lubricants comprise in a mixture (i) a tetraester of pentaerythritol and a C.sub.16 to C.sub.20 aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, (ii) orthophosphoric acid. The lubricants have markedly reduced coefficients of friction; improved roll-wear characteristics and good stability at temperatures of 250+.degree.C. Incorporation of mineral oil and an emulsifier enables the thus modified composition to be used for the preparation of aqueous emulsions or dispersions.
