  • Patent number: 5686673
Abstract: A sampler for simultaneously collecting multiple fluid samples is provided. The sampler includes a cap, at least one chamber fastener securing two sample chambers to the cap and an inlet providing substantially simultaneous flow into the sample chambers. The sampler can include a housing connected to the cap for enclosing the sample chambers and a housing seal which seals an interface formed between the housing and the cap. Inlet seals can be used to selectively seal the inlet to allow the sampler to collect accurate samples at a predetermined depth or below a free floating layer of fluid.

  • Patent number: 5454275
Abstract: A discrete groundwater sampler specifically designed to obtain a low-turbidity groundwater sample directly into the sample transport container, with minimal or no loss of dissolved volatile organic contaminants and no oxidation of dissolved inorganic contaminants, dissolved metals, or dissolved polychlorobiphenyls. The sampler relies on a differential in head-pressure between the fill and exhaust port tubes and an increased sampler can volume to allow overfill of the sample container, causing a flushing of the sample transport container a number of times before the actual sample to be analyzed is actually obtained in the sample transport container. Further, the sampler relies on pressure equilibrium to start and maintain flow through the fill tube; if pressure equilibrium is disturbed or not reached, filling is delayed until the sampler reaches an equilibrium point, usually by lowering it to the desired sampling depth.

  • Patent number: 5171334
Abstract: A diffused air volatile organic compound stripping system including a complete pumping system, a sequential stripping system, a free-petroleum-product separation system, and a free-product collection system with automatic controls, all packaged into a trailerized, easy to install and operate system. The stripping portion of the system is composed of three vertical stripping tanks, step-phase plumbed together to allow gravity feed from the first tank to the last. Each of the stripping tanks includes an internal concentrator tube into which is inserted an air diffuser designed to produce thousands of tiny air bubbles. The ground water (and free-product if any) is recovered from an on-site ground-water recovery well and pumped into a baffled separator tank. The upper free product fraction flows to a free product receptor fitted with an overflow shut-off switch.
