    Abstract: A method of making high energy Nd-Fe-B magnets having a mass less than 30 grams wherein an alloy of said materials having a grain size less than that desired in the finished magnet is first prepared and subsequently hot worked to the desired configuration with increased magnetic properties and density by introducing into a cavity formed by a die and punch a Nd-Fe-B alloy powder having a particle size of from 45 .mu.m to 250 .mu.m and a grain size of from 100 to 1500 angstroms, compressing the powder at a temperature of from about 550.degree. C. to 750.degree. C. under a die-punch pressure of at least 10 kpsi under a vacuum of less than 200 millitorr to achieve a permanent magnet having a remanence of at least 7 kilogauss.

    Abstract: A color imaging device having a certain color filter array is disclosed. The color filter array is of the "wash-off" type wherein the individual filter elements are formed by dyeing tiny elements of a dyeable composition. In order to form a barrier so that the process of dyeing subsequent filter elements does not affect a previous set of filter elements, the first set of filter elements is treated with a metal salt of a long-chain fatty acid. The dyeable composition comprises at least one compound having coordination sites for the metal of the long-chain fatty acid salt.

Also disclosed are supports, particularly supports having a radiation-sensitive surface, having thereon a layer of the described photo-corss-linkable polymers. The polymers are capable of receiving heat-transferrable dyes and are useful in forming color filter arrays for solid-state imaging devices. A particularly convenient method of forming solid-state color imaging devices having a layer containing an array of color filters is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A method for making a color imaging device that comprises means for sensing radiation comprising a planar array of charge-handling semiconductive photosensors, at least some of the photosensors having a radiation sensing area with at least one dimension less than about 100 micrometers, and superimposed thereon, filter means for controlling access of radiation to the sensing means. The filter means comprises a transparent, polymeric dye receiving layer for receiving heat-transferable dyes and further comprises a plurality of radiation intercepting means defining a planar array of filter elements lying in the receiving layer in micro-registration with the sensing areas of the photosensors. The filter area of each intercepting means contains at least one heat-transferable dye transferred to the dye receiving layer by heating and diffusion. The heat-transferable dye absorbs radiation in at least one portion of the spectrum and transmits radiation in at least one other portion of the spectrum.
