  • Patent number: 7473755
Abstract: The present invention relates to an aromatic polyester composition for making stretch blow molded containers with improved strain hardening. The polyester composition according to the invention exhibits a low DEG content, a natural stretch ratio of <10, a half time of crystallization of >150 sec at 200° C. and comprises a sulfo-modified copolymer. Compared to polyesters of the prior art, the polyester of the present invention exhibits superior stretching characteristics, such as a lower natural stretch ratio (NSR), which allows for production of small PET bottles via thinner and longer parisons. Such thinner and longer parisons improve the production of small containers due to shorter cooling cycles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 2004
Date of Patent: January 6, 2009
    Assignee: Invista North America S.ar.l.
Inventors: Uwe Bayer, Thomas Wehrmeister, Cor Jansen, Hilde Krikor, Steve Windelinckx

The polyester composition exhibits a low DEG content, a natural stretch ratio of <10, a half time of crystallization of >150 sec at 200° C. and comprises a sulfo-modified copolymer. The invention further relates to a process for making small volume containers. Compared to polyesters of the prior art, the polyester of the present invention exhibits superior stretching characteristics, such as a lower natural stretch ratio (NSR), which allows for production of small PET bottles via thinner and longer pansons. Such thinner and longer pansons improve the production of small containers due shorter Cooling cycles.

  • Patent number: 7049040
Abstract: A toner for development of an electrostatically charged image, said toner comprising a binder resin, a colorant, a function imparting agent, and a charge control agent, wherein said binder resin at least contains a polyolefin resin having a cyclic structure, said polyolefin resin is composed of a resin or resin fraction having a number average molecular weight (Mn), as measured by GPC, of less than 7,500 and a resin or resin fraction having said number average molecular weight of 7,500 or more, and in said polyolefin resin having a cyclic structure, a resin or resin fraction having an intrinsic viscosity (i.v.) of 0.25 dl/g or more, and a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 7,500 or more and a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 15,000 or more, as measured by the GPC method, is contained in a proportion of less than 50% by weight based on the entire binder resin.

  • Patent number: 6841604
Abstract: A polyester with a carbon black content of up to 20% by weight, based on the polyester, is condensed, after transesterification of DMT with diol, or after esterification of terephthalic acid with diol, with the aid of a titanium-based catalyst. The carbon black is added in the form of a carbon black dispersion together with the polycondensation catalyst to the transesterification product or esterification product. The carbon black dispersion comprises gas black or furnace black and a dispersing agent, and these are dispersed in diol. The diameter of the carbon black particles is below that of carbon black particles in a polyester using an antimony compound as catalyst.
