  • Patent number: 8557571
Abstract: A reactor has a reactor unit with a first chamber and a second chamber, with the first chamber being formed by the interior of a housing and the second chamber being formed by the interior of a plurality of hollow fibers arranged in the housing. The hollow fibers are arranged in the housing such that their density in at least one region of the first chamber does not exceed 10 fibers/mm2, based on the cross-sectional area of the first chamber. The reactor unit can include two casting compounds, in which a portion of the hollow fibers are embedded and between which another portion of the hollow fibers extends. The length of at least some or all of the hollow fibers is at least 0.5% greater than the distance of the casting compounds.

  • Publication number: 20120046587
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a wound covering having a first strip-like element forming a first periphery and a second strip-like element that faces away from the first periphery, runs approximately parallel thereto, forming a second periphery, and is joined to the first strip-like element, there being formed between the first inner periphery of the strip-like element, facing away from the first periphery, and a second inner periphery of the second strip-like element, facing away from the second periphery, a drainage chamber, the depth of which in a depth direction extending at right angles to the periphery ensures a capillary action on bodily fluids received in the drainage chamber, in particular exudates.

  • Patent number: 6268167
Abstract: In order to analyze a medical sample while avoiding error contributions due to hemolysis, prior to the main reaction for a component present in the sample, a pre-reaction is produced and measured by which the degree of hemolysis in the sample is determined and the result of the sample to be determined that is subsequently obtained is corrected by this error contribution using the relationship (correlation) that has been found between the degree of hemolysis and the error contribution.

  • Patent number: 6204419
Abstract: Process and apparatus for preparing 1,2-Dichloroethane by direct chlorination If in the reaction of ethylene with chlorine to form 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC) the catalyst components sodium chloride and iron(III) chloride are used in a molar ratio of below 0.5, then the EDC is obtained in sufficiently high purity to allow direct conversion to vinyl chloride. With maintenance of the stated molar ratio the reaction can be carried out very advantageously in terms of equipment and energy consumption, for example by vaporizing some of the EDC in an expansion vessel.

  • Patent number: 5945129
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of an infusion or dialysis solution containing bicarbonate and having a physiologically tolerable pH. In order to retain a solution with a stable physiologically tolerable pH even after heat treatment for sterilization, according to the invention, at least 2 mmol/L of at least one carboxylic acid ester is introduced into the solution beforehand. The solution is subjected to heat treatment above 100.degree. C., so that the carboxylic acid ester decomposes almost completely into carboxylic acid and alcohol. The invention further relates to a use of the process according to the invention for the production of a solution for peritoneal dialysis and a medicinal infusion or dialysis solution.
