  • Patent number: 7381466
Abstract: Abrasive particles from the group of conventional abrasive particles, in particular fused or sintered corundums, zirconium corundums, silicon corundums, silicon carbides and boron carbide, for application in synthetic resin-bonded abrasives, characterized by the fact that on the surface they are provided with a coating consisting of 0.05 to 2.0 weight percent, relative to the weight of the untreated abrasive particle, of an aqueous binding agent on silicon basis and 0.05 to 5.0 weight percent, also relative to the weight of the untreated abrasive particle, of a complex, fine grained oxide compound of the general formula AxByOz, with A and B each being a group of elements and O being oxygen present in a stoichiometric ratio to A and B, and whereby the numbers x, y and z denote the composition of the complex oxides without being limited to whole numbers, and z corresponds to a product of the sum of (x+y) and a factor of between 1.5 and 2.5.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 2003
Date of Patent: June 3, 2008
    Assignee: Treibacher Schleifmittel GmbH
    Inventors: Hans Zeiringer, Thomas Wurzer
  • Patent number: 7097679
Abstract: A flowable, granular abrasive material and method of manufacture thereof. The material is comprised of at least one abrasive grain selected from aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, cubic boron nitride and/or diamond and has a organic or inorganic coating comprised of a binder and an abrasive filling material in the amounts of 0.5 to 8% and 1 to 15% by weight, respectively. The filling material may include sulfides, phosphates, carbonates, halogenides, and/or sulfide-, carbonate- and/or halogenide-containing complex compounds. The binder may include a low-viscosity phenol resin, epoxy resin and/or polyurethane resin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 2004
Date of Patent: August 29, 2006
    Assignee: Treibacher Schleifmittel GmbH
    Inventors: Thomas Wurzer, Franz Skale
