    Abstract: A controller for an electronic dimmable ballast is operated in a manner effective to maintain the fluorescent light at less than maximum illumination at all times. It has been found that this reduces energy consumption while extending bulb life. Accordingly, for this purpose the controller is programmed with an upper output voltage limit that corresponds to the desired maximum illumination.
