This people conveyor is characterized by the fact that a deflector (12) is provided which is constructed in one piece with the base panel and horizontally overlaps the gap by a certain length, wherein the deflector is arranged in such a way that a predetermined minimum vertical spacing between the deflector and the passenger transport band is observed.
