  • Publication number: 20060213293
Abstract: The invention relates to a drive to create directed motion along an advantageous direction (R) with a gyrating mass (m) that is mounted so that it may move along the advantageous direction (R) and may rotate about an axis (A). For this, a first drive medium is provided that is so configured that it exerts a first force (F1) on the gyrating mass (m) outside of its center of mass with at least one component parallel to the advantageous direction (R). Further, a second drive medium is provided exerts a second force on the center of mass of the gyrating mass (m) in opposition to the first force (F1). A drive system incorporating two or more such drives may be provided.

  • Patent number: 6802801
Abstract: A tool changing device for a tool machine having a tool spindle which can be moved at least in the spindle direction and with which a tool can be engaged in a spindle hand-over position. A tool magazine/storage area houses a tool to be changed in a magazine ready position with an orientation diverging from the spindle direction. A transport device is fitted with a tool holder which, by means of an operating device provided with a driving guide/guide path, swivels the tool about a swiveling axis during its transport from the ready position in the tool magazine and an orientation parallel to the spindle direction. The transport device is designed for an entire transport path between the magazine ready position and a spindle hand-over position. The transport device is aligned with the rotation axis of the stored tool. The swiveling axis runs perpendicularly to the transport direction and the spindle axis.

  • Patent number: 6736767
Abstract: A machine tool with a driven tool spindle that is rotatable about a spindle axis that includes a tool exchanger including grippers to displace tool-holders or tools between a receiver position in the tool spindle and a storage position, or vice versa. The tool-holders or tools in these two positions are identically oriented, and the storage position and the receiver position are displaced with respect to each other along the spindle axis direction of the tool spindle. The tool exchanger possesses a transport mechanism that includes a carrier element pivotable about a pivot axis inclined with respect to the spindle axis, to which grippers pivotable about axes perpendicular to each other are connected. Guide elements are mounted so they may be driven and rotate about the first axis parallel to the pivot axis in the opposite direction to the pivot direction of the carrier element are included on the carrier element.

  • Patent number: 6679659
Abstract: A milling machine with a rotating drivable machine tool spindle perpendicular to a work piece stage slanting downward and away from the front side of the machine bed displaceable along the Z-axis that may be displaced via a first carriage along the Y-axis, and via a second carriage along the X-axis on guides mounted to the machine bed. A chip collection chamber is provided behind the work stage surface when in the operating position. The guides for the second carriage are provided on opposing struts of a portal frame parallel to the work tensioning surface, that is connected on its front side by means of lateral front support areas and on its rear side directly with the machine bed.

  • Patent number: 6644856
Abstract: A hydrostatic bearing device for two machine areas moving relative to each other and having faces parallel to each other with a fluid space delimited by parts of the two different machine areas and forming a gap. The fluid is under pressure in the fluid space. The gap between the two machine areas is blocked by means of a seal having a tapered end against one machine area and wherein the pressure reservoir maintains the fluid under pressure in the fluid space.

  • Publication number: 20030186795
Abstract: A machine tool with a driven tool spindle that is rotatable about a spindle axis (1a) that includes a tool exchanger including grippers (2) to displace tool-holders (4) or tools between a receiver position in the tool spindle (1) and a storage position, or vice versa. The tool-holders (4) or tools in these two positions are identically oriented, and the storage position and the receiver position are displaced with respect to each other along the spindle axis direction of the tool spindle (1). The tool exchanger possesses a transport mechanism that includes a carrier element (3) pivotable about a pivot axis (5) inclined with respect to the spindle axis (1a), to which grippers (2) pivotable about axes (6; 7) perpendicular to each other are connected. Guide elements (10) mounted so they may be driven and rotate about the first axis (8) parallel to the pivot axis (5) in the opposite direction to the pivot direction of the carrier element (3) are included on the carrier element (3).

  • Patent number: 6579216
Abstract: A tool exchanging apparatus for a processing center, provided with at least one tool spindle (2), in which a tool (1) can be clamped and which can be moved in the direction of the spindle axis and at least also in a direction vertical to this direction, equipped with a tool magazine (3) and with two tool holding devices (4a) on a transporting device (4) with which the tool holding device (4a) can be moved to a tool exchanging position located in the movement region of the tool spindle (2), wherein one used tool (1) can be deposited from the tool spindle (2) and a new tool can be removed from the tool spindle (2). Each of the tool holding devices (4a), which are provided at least in pairs, is allocated to its own transporting device (4) so that the transporting devices can be moved back and forth independently of each other between the tool exchanging position and a tool receptacle (3a) of the tool magazine (3). The tool receptacles (3a) of the tool magazine (3) are movable in a circulating manner.
