  • Patent number: 11834018
Abstract: A braking system for vehicles includes wheel brakes, a pressure-providing device for actuating the wheel brakes, a master brake cylinder having a primary pressure chamber, a secondary pressure chamber, and a secondary piston. The primary pressure chamber is separated from a first set of the wheel brakes by a first, normally open separating valve, and the secondary pressure chamber is separated from a second set of the wheel brakes by a second, normally open separating valve. A pressure medium reservoir is connected to the secondary pressure chamber in the unactuated state of the secondary piston, the braking system is activated in order to actively build up pressure in the brakes in a by-wire operating mode by the pressure-providing device. In the event of a pressure medium surplus in the wheel brakes, the second separating valve is opened if a release of the brake pedal by the driver is detected.

  • Patent number: 11052891
Abstract: An electrohydraulic brake system, comprising a brake master cylinder. A pressure generating device for actuating wheel brakes and an additional brake actuator may both be activated electronically. In a normal mode of operation, an open- and closed-loop control unit detects a braking demand based on the actuation of a brake pedal by the driver and activates the pressure generating device to build up braking torque at the wheel brakes. If the pressure generating device is not activated, the driver gains direct access to the wheel brakes and the control unit activates the additional brake actuator to build up braking torque. In the fallback mode, when a predetermined pedal travel threshold value is reached, the control loop activates the additional brake actuator to build up braking torque. In the event of a succession of brake pedal actuations by the driver, the pedal travel threshold value is increased at least once.

  • Patent number: 7681960
Abstract: A method for a Sensitive Electronic Stability Program (SESP) presents a general approach for the correction of maneuvers of turning into a bend at low speed. It integrates existing methods as well as subsequent extensions. SESP supplements the standard active yaw control (AYC) function. This allows the SESP to use variables and mechanisms of AYC, on the one hand. On the other hand, AYC continues operating unimpeded in the background and will intervene as usual when SESP cannot stabilize the vehicle appropriately. When the standard AYC intervenes, SESP control operations are forbidden, or running SESP control operations are stopped. This stop can take place either abruptly or (which is more comfortable) by way of a moderate decrease of the correcting variables.
