Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and programs for protecting data on a wireless device may include a wireless device having a computer platform with a processing engine operable, based upon configurable parameters, to log data access attempt on the wireless device and transmit the log to a remote device. Furthermore, the wireless device may be configured to execute locally and remotely generated control commands on the wireless device, the commands operable to modify an operation of the wireless device. The embodiment may also include an apparatus operable to receive the transmitted log, analyze the received log and transmit a control command to the wireless device. The apparatus may further generate a data access report and make the report available to an authorized user.

Abstract: Detection and management methods and apparatus for wireless devices may include an executable instruction authorization module operable to scan executable instructions on a wireless device, generate a log indicative of a virus or otherwise unauthorized executable instructions based on a received authorization configuration, and forward the log to a user manager. The user manager may be operable to analyze the log and generate an authorization report which may be viewable by an operator to determine the disposition of unauthorized executable instructions. At least one of the executable instruction authorization module, the user manager, and the operator may be operable to generate a control command operable to delete, or otherwise disable, unauthorized executable instructions on the wireless device, or to restore the executable instructions on the wireless device.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, processors and machine readable media for verifying the integrity of firmware on a wireless device. Aspects include generating a verification scheme for testing the integrity of firmware on a wireless device and transmitting the verification scheme to the wireless device. The wireless device applies the verification scheme to the firmware and obtains a verification test result, which is forwarded for analysis. An analyzer compares the generated verification test result with a predetermined test result to obtain an integrity determination that indicates the integrity of the firmware. In some aspects, control commands to change an operational characteristic of the wireless device may be generated based on the integrity determination.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, computer readable media and processors operable on a wireless device may provide an anti-spam engine operable to intercept content intended for and/or generated by client applications, and filter out unwanted content. The anti-spam engine may include a configurable module having a spam filter that may determine whether content is unwanted. Based on the result of subjecting the content to the spam filter, the anti-spam engine may forward the content to the intended client application and/or a network destination, and/or may generate a spam log. The anti-spam module may be further operable to forward the spam log to another device, such as a user manager device, operable to analyze the log and generate a report which may be viewable by an operator.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods may include a multimedia test engine operable to exercise and test multimedia application programming interfaces (APIs) of a wireless device based upon execution of a test configuration comprising a test script downloadable to the wireless device. The test engine is resident in memory on the wireless device and is operable to collect multimedia test data and, in some aspects, wireless device performance data, based upon the test configuration and forward the collected data to another device operable to analyze the collected data and generate a multimedia API test report viewable by an authorized user.

In other aspects, a wireless device resident application is operable to obtain an application install package from a remote server across a wireless network, and install, on-demand, an external device application on the external device.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing monitoring of voice quality and diagnostic data related to voice quality on a wireless device. Monitoring thresholds can be implemented that allow for additional precautionary measures and/or further monitoring to occur if a threshold level of voice quality performance is experienced. The results of the voice and diagnostic monitoring can be communicated to the service provider who can then collect, analyze and generate reports to assess and determine quality-related problems experienced by the communication network.

By providing for performance statistics at the wireless device, the user of the device or any other predetermined party, such as a service provider, can readily determine if a performance problem is related to the device or to the network.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for managing predetermined malfunction events in a wireless device operating in a wireless communications network. Malfunction event data and operational data are recorded by the wireless device based on a selected malfunction event tracking configuration. Further, a recovery module associated with the wireless device operates to attempt to recover information leading up to and including the malfunction event. The collected information may be transmitted to a user manager in the form of a malfunction event log. The malfunction event log may be analyzed to characterize the malfunction, and is particularly useful for determining the sequence and identity of events leading to the malfunction, including a crash, freeze and reset.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatus, processors and computer-readable media include a radiated testing module that executes a predetermined radiated performance test on a wireless device. The test dictates various performance-related parameters to measure and log at each of a plurality of predetermined positions. Further, the wireless device receives synchronization information operable to enable synchronization between the logged measurements and each of the positions. The synchronized log allows the wireless device, or another apparatus, to determine a radiated performance characteristic based on a predetermined analysis protocol. Further, the described embodiments allow for the determination of several radiated performance characteristics in a single test, using a single, unaltered wireless device.
