  • Patent number: 8080897
Abstract: Optimal feedback sensing locations are determined based on minimizing the sum of the differences between actual voltages and nominal voltages at the devices being supplied by the voltage regulator. An optimal sense location may be determined to be a location (for example, on a PCB or PKG) where the sensed voltage is equal to the nominal voltage of the multiple devices when the voltage output of the power source(s) is equal to a level that minimizes the sum of the differences between the actual voltages and nominal voltages at the devices being supplied by the power source(s). An optimal sense location may also be determined to be a location where the sensed voltage is equal to the average of the voltages at the devices that are supplied by the power source(s). Visual data is generated, the visual data indicating an area or areas that comprise optimal sense locations and locations that are optimal within a preset tolerance range.
