  • Patent number: 6591229
Abstract: A metrology device incorporates a programmable smart card. The smart card may be a Java programmable smart card and allows the metrology device to access Java applications and resources while still retaining independent control over its metrological functions. A smart card interface allows the smart card and metrological device to communicate with each other using the ISO 7816 protocol. The smart card may be external to the metrology device, or it may be fixedly installed in the metrology device. Java applications may be pre-loaded or downloaded on the smart card. The metrological device may select which applications to be run on the smart card. The smart card may have an enhanced operating system that includes various metrological functions as native functions. Alternatively, the metrological functions may be included as part of a Java class library which may be accessed by the operating system or Java applications.

  • Patent number: 6082843
Abstract: The invention concerns a supporting framework, in particular for house furniture, the framework taking the form of a rectangular grid structure consisting of load-bearing vertical supports and horizontal adjustable panels (4) inserted between the supports. Preferably, the furniture constructed from the kit also comprises adjustable units which are provided with movable door and/or window elements (5) and are accessible from the front, the back of the units generally being closed by a rear panel which covers the entire area and, as well as providing greater protection from dust also increases rigidity at the corners of the furniture. The supporting framework comprises ladder-like supports, which consist of at least two--or in the case of furniture with a graduated cross-sectional shape generally of three--pre-fabricated vertical uprights (10) extending parallel at a spacing from each other.

  • Patent number: 5382951
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a system for transmitting messages between a control terminal and controlled terminals for use especially in home automation installations. The controlled terminals are installed on a transmission network connected to the control terminal. The messages all have the same structure and include an originator field and a destination field. To install a new terminal a data item specific thereto is entered in the terminal. The new terminal installed transmits an installation request message including the specific data item to the terminal. In response the control terminal transmits an installation message which includes all the data needed for the installed terminal to converse with the control terminal.

  • Patent number: 4579954
Abstract: The invention relates to the new monohydrate of N-methyl-N'-{2-[(5-methylimidazol-4-yl)-methylthio]-ethyl}-N"-cyanoguanidi ne (cimetidine), a histamine-H.sub.2 receptor antagonist which is called N-methyl-N'-{2-[(5-methylimidazol-4-yl)-methylthio]-ethyl}-N"-cyanoguanidi ne H (cimetidine H) as well as to a process for the preparation of same, which comprises pouring a hot, homogeneous aqueous solution of N-methyl-N'-{2-[(5-methylimidazol-4-yl)-methylthio]-ethyl}-N"-cyanoguanidi ne, optionally containing also methylamine, onto ice and separating the N-methyl-N'-{2-[(5-methylimidazol-4-yl)-methylthio]-ethyl}-N"-cyanoguanidi ne monohydrate.
