  • Publication number: 20140018888
Abstract: A medical balloon for transmitting radiofrequency energy to a body vessel, the medical balloon comprising at least one pressurizable expanded state, the medical balloon comprising at least one electrical conductor, at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet providing a fluid flow path through the balloon, and at least one flow restrictor external to the medical balloon, wherein in the pressurizable expanded state, the balloon comprising an electrically conductive fluid circulated through the fluid flow path, the at least one electrical conductor is configured to conduct radiofrequency energy to the electrically conductive fluid and the external flow restrictor restricts fluid flow to maintain the balloon at a predetermined internal pressure.

  • Publication number: 20130165921
Abstract: The disclosure pertains to an intravascular system for nerve modulation through a wall of a blood vessel and methods of use therefor, wherein the system is capable of nerve modulation by one or more ablations of a blood vessel adjacent to the nerve to be modulated. The intravascular system is suited for modulation of renal nerves.

  • Patent number: 8359105
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for electrically conductive pathways in medical devices. One embodiment of a medical device can include an elongate polymeric body having a proximal end and a distal end. Discrete particles of an electrically conductive material in the elongate polymeric body can form an electrically conductive pathway that extends at least partially between the proximal end and the distal end of the elongate polymeric body.

  • Patent number: 8043258
Abstract: The present application includes devices, systems and methods for therapeutic agent delivery. A device in accord with the invention may include a first infusion lumen having a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis and a therapeutic agent. This device may also include an inflatable balloon in fluid communication with the first infusion lumen, the inflatable balloon having an exit outlet wherein the device is configured to exert pressure at a target site with an external surface of the balloon, the exerted pressure greater than a target pressure prior to the therapeutic agent exiting the inflatable balloon. A method in accord with the invention may include positioning a delivery device near an intended treatment site, injecting therapeutic agent through an infusion lumen into an inflatable balloon, and determining a target pressure at a target site by monitoring the blood pressure of a patient.

  • Publication number: 20110190863
Abstract: Systemic drug loss protection devices are disclosed. The drug loss protection device includes a balloon and a drug particulate filter. The drug particulate filter has a plurality of openings and is configured to selectively permit transmission of drug particulates through the filter. Consequently, the size of the openings in the filter regulates transmission of the drug particulates. The drug particulate filter can also be used as an embolic filter.
